Oh.

Hell.

No.

He was out of control with just about all the vices. The only one he couldn’t do was strippers and getting drunk. They didn’t want to open that gate to Hell.

“Well, I have to worry. It’s a full moon this weekend, and my wife is running a case without supervision. Already, she’s been put in lockup, Trey is running amuck, and she hired the detective that tossed her ass in jail. It’s been forty-five minutes since she got out, Lucian. That’s a land-speed record for her.”

He shook his head.

Lucian reassured him.

“It was the male detective that put them in the tank, Jules, not Detective Manning. You’re good with that aspect of this case. If it means anything, I like her.”

Ridge agreed.

“She’s calming. You know how Raven has that energy about him?”

Julian needed his besties to talk him down.

All the way down.

“Yeah.”

“She kinda does too. I’m sure she’s psychic, but I can’t figure out what else she can do. She’s hard to read. It’s like she knows how to mask her energy or she’s blocked by something strong.”

Julian clued him in.

“She’s a walking lie detector,” Julian said. “Tori told me.”

Well, that explained some of it.

Lucian continued.

“She’s more than just that, Jules. I can’t feel her energy. I can feel everyone’s energy. That’s how I can do what I can do. She feels locked down. I’m not sure how, but I think she’s got more gift than we can tell, or someone is protecting her.”

Julian was worried.

That didn’t make sense.

Who could be protecting her? How did one even do that?

“My wife is running around with her. Is she safe?” he asked. “I’m all the way across the country, and I can’t get there fast if something happens. I have to worry.”

Ridge tried this time.

“Bishop, and Tori’s dead, are all over her. We have it under control. Bexley and Raven are researching and on standby for Tori to send out for interviews. Bodhi and Hailey are in their room, getting ready for the wedding planning. We’re good.”

They heard plenty in that silent pause.

Yeah, they knew what was coming.

“When will you be arriving?” Ridge asked.

He didn’t miss a beat.

“I’m flying in later at some point. Don’t tell my wife. I want to surprise her.”
