Julian sighed and ignored him. He had other fish to fry on this one.

“Detective, ignore what I’m about to say. I’m sure you’re a delightful human being, and my wife is just trying to bust my balls, but…,” he began, and then finished. “Victoria! What do you mean you hired a cop when you just met her? Are you insane? You can’t just randomly walk up to people and give them a job!”

She laughed.

As did the cop they were talking about.

“No take backsies. She hired me, and I accepted. You’re stuck with me now. I’m not having that asshole ME’s babies.”

Julian paused, clearly in confusion.

Tori went there.

“Jules, just keep a lookout for the packet. For the record, she’s another Hart.”

He paused.

Wait.

What?

Was Tori being serious?

“Legit? You found another lie detector?” he asked, not caring that she could hear them. If she was psychic, and could do what Hart did, he wanted that woman on their team.

“I did.”

Genesis looked over at Bishop.

“Do they regularly do shit like this?” she asked. “Asking because I’m amused and confused all at once.”

Bishop patted her arm in reassurance. This detective was in for a wild ride.

“Oh, wait. You’ve seen nothing yet.”

Julian needed to talk to his wife in private.

“Can you take me off speaker?” Julian asked his wife. “So we can discuss this?”

“Jules, when you know, you know. It’s how I knew I was crazy about you when we met. Look at how that turned out.”

He sputtered.

Was she insane?

“Victoria! You hated me after we had sex that first time. I had to chase you down and win you over. You made me work for it. You didn’t know jack!”

She laughed.

Okay, he had a point.

Oh, but God did she love flustering her husband. He was the sexiest man she had ever seen, and she loved working him up.

“Jules, I have to go,” she said. “We’re getting ready to go into a strip club to look at some titties. Trey talked us into it. I love you. I’ll call you later.”

He began talking, and she disconnected the call to further drive him insane. When she did, Bishop roared in amusement.

“Oh, he’s going to be a hornet’s nest of fun. The other employees are going to love you when you get back—if he’s not already packing his bag to get here ASAP.”
