“Uh, a good cop, I hope. Or are you handcuffed still?” he asked.
The radio reacted.
“AND. THAT. IS. HIS. KINK. HE’S. A. PERVERT,” Trey stated.
Julian didn’t miss a beat.
“Did I mention we have a new employee of the month? It’s the photocopier again. It does its job and keeps its mouth shut,” he stated. “It has a purpose unlike you, Trey.”
The dial spun and went wild. If you wanted to put Trey in his place, tell him he wasn’t the employee of the month.
It was funny.
Her husband was clearly in a good mood. When he wasn’t, he ignored Trey.
“Well, I’m glad it worked out.”
He was curious.
“Lucian mentioned he sprung you, and you were insistent on helping solve the case. Do you need anything?” he asked. “I can hop a flight and help you out if you need me.”
Well, she didn’t need him, but she’d be lying if she said she didn’t miss him. The last thing Tori wanted was him abandoning ship.
She had this under control.
“I’m actually good. We’re working with Detective Manning. Oh, and I just sent off an employee packet, so if you get one back with signatures, that was from me to a potential employee.”
That caught him off guard.
“What?” he asked.
Bishop was trying her hardest not to say she told her so, but she had, indeed, told her so.
“Victoria Littlemoon, who are you hiring?” he asked, needing an answer ASAP. He wasn’t sure how she went from lockup to recruiting in less than thirty minutes.
Tori went there.
“The detective, who is in the car with us. She’s actually accepted and is joining our team.”
Julian was silent.
Momentarily.
“Uh, Tori, she helped throw you in the clink, and now you’re hiring her? Have you lost your mind?” he asked, questioning if she should be allowed to run loose without him.
Yeah, he was definitely heading West.
His wife was a menace.
It was Genesis who answered him.
“Uh, the detective is sitting here with your wife,” Genesis said. “I can hear you. I worked with a shit partner. I wasn’t deaf.”
Julian closed his eyes.
“Well, this is awkward.”
“AS. AWKWARD. AS. YOU. HUMPING. MY. SISTER. LIKE. A. SAGGY. BALLED. WALRUS?” Trey asked.
