“Ladies?” she asked, ready to get the hell out of there. They weren’t getting much here.

“I’m good,” Tori said, letting them know there were no dead here she could use to help them. The dead women were NOT with their bodies. “It’s clear.”

Bishop knew what she meant.

As they headed out, the man winked at Genesis.

“I’ll call you.”

“You do that, Doc,” she said, heading into the hallway with the women.

Outside the morgue, Tori was apologetic.

“I’m sorry that you had to do that for us to get Bodhi to look at the bodies. Way to go with ditching him though. You get points for creativity.”

She laughed.

“Oh, he’s not my type. Screw that. I can’t stand the guy. He lies about everything, including some of the autopsies. I just bought you time. I’m getting the hell out of Dodge and never looking back. Now, you definitely have to hire me, or I’m going to be stuck having his babies.”

Bishop started laughing.

That was funny.

This woman was going to fit in just fine.

That was clear.

“Where to now?” Genesis asked. “Do you want to start visiting the workplaces and friends?” she asked. “Or are we on a hunt for the ghosties still?”

She was letting them lead since she wasn’t sure what their process was, and that they had to start back on day one.

Tori grinned.

“I like this not having Julian bossing me around thing. Normally, he gives me looks and tells me to behave.”

“BEHAVE,” her phone said, proving Trey was listening.

Tori didn’t miss a beat.

“And I will ignore you too,” she said as they climbed back into the car. “Normally, I would want the crime scene first, but I’m going to say let’s go look at some strippers before it gets busy there. Then, we might not get to talk to them.”

That worked for Genesis.

It was closer than the crime scene, and there might be some techs still lingering there. She didn’t want to parade on the scene, making…well, a scene.

“CAN. I. GO. INSIDE. AND. LOOK. AT. THE. DANCERS?” Trey asked.

Before Trey could answer, the dial went haywire. Tori could see why.

Bethany.

“I. AM. SORRY. BABY. THE. DEVIL. MADE. ME. DO. IT!”

Tori and Bishop laughed.

“Uh, what happened?” Genesis asked. “What did I miss?”

All she knew was the whole car went ice cold, and the windows were icing over.
