He grinned.
“Yep. There are all these windows, and the mountains are the backdrop—the snow, the gorgeous views, and you. That’s a wedding to remember. I can’t wait to see you walk down the aisle with Holly.”
She leaned over and kissed him on the cheek as he drove.
“I love you.”
He knew she did.
There was no doubt in his mind.
As he pulled into the parking lot, he heard the doors lock on the car.
It made both of them jump in their seats.
Immediately, Bodhi looked around and played with the button on the door. Only, it wouldn’t work.
Oh, hell.
The hairs on his arm were standing up, and he had a sneaking suspicion about what was going on.
His breath was cold as it came from his mouth.
Yeah, this was a haunting.
“What was that?” she asked as Hailey kept trying to unlock the doors.
Before he could answer, the radio came to life, and they knew who was behind it.
It was Jake.
“TELL. HER. THAT. YOU. LOVE. HER. SHE. SAID. IT. TO. YOU.”
Oh, boy.
From where he sat, Bodhi looked nervous. While he was accustomed to Trey and Bethany as of late, the last few days, Jake had been…cranky.
That wasn’t good.
For him.
Now that the dead man was holding them hostage in the car…
That wasn’t good.
So, he did what the radio told him.
“Hailey, I love you,” he said as goosebumps crisscrossed his flesh.
From beside him, Hailey wasn’t having bullshit like that. She knew Bodhi loved her. She didn’t need him to say it every time she did. He had planned a romantic wedding retreat where she was a queen.
Actions spoke louder than words.
“You’re scaring him. Stop, Jake.”
For a whole second, Bodhi held his breath, not sure what was going to happen.
Then, the radio spun, and the locks unlocked themselves.
