Truth be told, he was enjoying the journey.
Hailey was a different woman than that first day she met him. She had blossomed.
And he couldn’t be happier.
As they moved closer to becoming man and wife, and their tiny little baby grew in her belly, he was also changing. Bodhi was learning that he could love so much.
And he did.
A part of him was sad that his father was missing out on this, but he couldn’t deal with him right now. Bodhi needed time to digest that his father had cheated on his mother to save him.
That wasn’t the worst part.
It was that it eventually killed his mother.
That was making it so hard to celebrate that he had a younger half-brother, Asher.
He felt so guilty.
His life had been traded for another person’s, and that didn’t sit well with him.
Well, he was putting that away to focus on the celebration at hand.
They were planning a wedding together.
While he should go back home, to get back to work, this was just too alluring. Bodhi wanted to experience everything with her.
Work would have to wait.
“I’m sorry your weekend was changed,” he said. “I hope this didn’t ruin it.”
She focused on him.
Was he insane?
This was a great weekend.
He was here.
“It’s perfect. Having you here is even better. You shouldn’t have done all this, Bo. I’m simple. I would have married you in the alley behind my apartment.”
He laughed.
Yeah, no.
That wasn’t happening.
Why?
“Uh, the alley I got dragged down unconscious and taken to die? Pass. Pick a different spot. Oh, I know, how about a gorgeous wedding venue in a hotel?” he asked, winking at her.
That sounded amazing.
Only, she hadn’t seen it yet. Hailey would be lying if she said she wasn’t curious as hell. It was sexy how her man was taking charge.
In Jake, it had been annoying, maybe because he’d been bossy. Bodhi was just doing something sweet.
“Is it pretty?” she asked.
