Yeah, the dead were insane, but useful.
When she was gone, Lucian’s wife didn’t pull any punches.
“I want to work this case, so I need jurisdiction,” Bishop said. “In fact, Tori and I both want to work it. Get us the leverage,” she said to her husband. “That’s the only thing that will make me not own this place and that man’s career.”
Immediately, Lucian held out his hand.
Without hesitating, Ridge dropped a fifty-dollar bill into it.
From where they stood, the women stared at him.
“Uh, what was that for?” Bishop asked.
He explained.
“I bet him that before my wife even kissed me hello, and thanked me for flying across the country in the middle of the night to save her ass, that she’d ask for leverage to run this case.”
Oh, he was spicy.
She snorted.
Then, Bishop got up, went into his body, and kissed him like she missed him.
That told him everything he needed to know. She was definitely grateful, and he’d definitely missed her.
When she broke the kiss, he grinned at her.
“I’ll get you anything you want for kisses like that,” he admitted.
She was well aware.
The man hadn’t had sex in almost six weeks as his wife healed from childbirth.
He.
Missed.
Bishop.
A lot.
From her spot in the small room, Tori laughed.
“I miss Julian now,” she admitted. “Since he’s not here to corral me, yeah, I want this case. I know it can’t be official, but the female detective is going to run it now that detective asshole has been removed. I want everything so we can help figure this out.”
The men figured as much. When you pissed off one of these particular women, they got really spiteful and did things like solve cases to prove a point.
Ridge let them in on it.
“We brought backup. Raven and Bodhi are outside the precinct.”
Hailey was hella confused by that.
Why?
Someone was on babysitting duty.
“How?” Hailey asked. “He’s supposed to be with Holly.”
