He was blunt.
“I’m not being threatened by a bunch of pseudo cops who think they can come to this town and be detectives. This is my town, and they are guests here. They need a quick lesson so they stop pulling shit like this. I’ve seen HER on the news. She thinks she’s hot stuff.”
Genesis rolled her eyes.
Hell.
The detectives in this town could barely be detectives. Look at her partner. This was just one more reason she needed to escape this.
Her father had been insane to work here and deal with people like this.
This man was the worst.
“I’m going on the record in front of these cops to say that I told you that holding them was a bad idea. When this blows up, and it will, your going to get fired.”
He turned.
The rage was there.
It was clear that he didn’t like his female partner calling him out on his shit.
“You can go home, Pumpkin. I’m sure you have to do your nails or something,” he said, making the other male cops snicker.
Oh, this was it. She was done.
It.
Took.
Everything.
Instead of exploding, she walked back toward her car to head back to the station. She was going to do the report and get it over to her boss.
ASAP.
It looked as if she was going to complain.
AGAIN.
From where she sat in the back of the patrol car, Tori watched and could hear the melee.
The female detective was trying, and she gave her credit for that.
“Bethany,” she whispered. “I need you.”
That’s when her spirit guide reappeared beside her in the back of the patrol car.
“What do you need?” she asked. “I was keeping Hailey company since she might get scared by all of this.”
Yeah, and because she was pregnant. The dead woman wasn’t fooling anyone.
“I need you to pop out, and get to Julian. Tell him what’s going on, and then tell him he needs to get to the police station in the morning. We’re going to need Lucian. I’m going to be staying here working. I’m going to find out who that woman is, and why this cop is a dick.”
She nodded.
Bethany could do that.
“Julian is so busy. He’s supposed to be dealing with his sisters.”
