“He killed himself. Poisoned himself. We’re just trying to avoid scandal.”

Tori laughed her ass off.

“Except we heard the whole thing and got it recorded. In fact, I’m still recording. A car accident and amnesia, Jessamy? Really?”

They both looked scared.

Bishop moved closer.

“The dead man killed three people, and attempted a fourth murder. The judge killed one person, and the supposedly dead daughter killed one, and is going to be charged with attempted murder on another. This family is fucked up.”

She sputtered.

“He tried to kill me.”

Bishop pulled handcuffs off of her belt.

“Yeah, and the proper response to that isn’t to kill his mistress and try to kill another woman. It’s to go to the police and turn him in. You let the cops handle it, and stop worrying about the family being embarrassed in the media. You’re about to get that tenfold.”

Because she was irritated, Bishop grabbed the judge, and shoved him to the ground to handcuff him. As soon as she did, Jessamy moved at her with the discarded shovel, but she didn’t get a chance to hit the woman.

Genesis wasn’t having it.

Not.

Even.

Close.

She punched her in the face, and Jessamy Lawley, the not-so-dead woman, went down.

In the distance, they heard the sirens.

As soon as they were all contained, Tori turned off the camera and opened the tarp.

Yeah, Cyrus was dead.

Putting her face close to the man’s, she smelled that telltale odor.

“Almonds. They definitely used cyanide, and from the amount of time from being alive to dead…a lot of it.”

When they heard running, it was none other than Joe Ivy, the captain of homicide who had just shitcanned Genesis.

Oh, what a fun thing this was going to be.

“What the hell?” he shouted.

Bishop flashed her badge as she was sitting on the judge who was screaming about how he’d kill her too for ruining his career.

Yeah, not her rodeo.

She explained.

“Your fired cop is making a citizen’s arrest. Your loss is our gain. She solved four cold cases, two homicides, and an assault.”

Joe Ivy just stood there staring.

Genesis took over.
