“Well, had you not fired me, you wouldn’t have a problem, but here you go, ex-boss. It’s solved. They killed Cyrus. They were burying him.”

Tori pulled the tarp back further.

“Holy shit,” he muttered.

Genesis wasn’t done.

“Yeah, and you caved to a judge. Here’s the irony. This case was solvable. Jon chose to blow it off because who gives a shit if a woman dies? And you? You just chose to be a pussy.”

He gasped.

“Yeah, I said it. We women solved this in a day—no thanks to you!”

Lucian had followed the cops with Julian, and they gave her high-fives as she walked past them.

That was the best way to leave a job.

As a legend.

“I’m going home to get my dog. See ya at the airport, Fam!”

And with that, a good cop stopped being a cop, and in that moment, she became a Littlemoon.

And her story began like all good ones.

With the heroes kicking some ass, taking names, and getting justice for the dead—even if one of the dead was a sleezy piece of shit.

“I can’t believe this,” Joe said, shaking his head. “He’s a judge.”

Lucian laughed.

“There seems to be a lot of people not doing their damn jobs in this town. Oh, and, Captain?”

He glanced over.

“You’re going to get the bill. The Littlemoons are very expensive, and on occasion they do work for the police.”

He began walking away, Julian with him on one side, and his wife on the other.

“We don’t work for the police,” Julian said.

Lucian grinned.

“Oh, look. A third business. We should look into that as we continue to expand. There are so many police agencies that need us.”

Julian went to that rodeo once, but he was willing to get back on the bull. To expand his empire?

Sign.

Him.

Up.

Beside them, Tori laughed her ass off as she followed them out of there, leaving the cops to clean up in aisle cuckoo. It looked as if there was yet another expansion coming.

When Tori’s phone chimed, she pulled it from her pocket.

“I. DON’T. LIKE. THIS. TOWN. CAN. WE. GO. HOME?” Trey asked.
