“Really? Oh, okay. I’ll get her dentals and see if she has fingerprints.”

Thankfully, he didn’t ask for any more information on where they got that name. This man was a craptastic ME not to go there.

Tori pointed.

“Asphyxiation?” she asked.

He stared at her.

“How do you know that?” he asked, suspiciously.

Tori laughed.

That was the part he was caught up on?

“Well, maybe because she had a plastic bag stuck to her face, and her makeup is perfectly imprinted inside. I’m not an idiot, Doctor. She was up close and personal with that bag, and look at her mouth. It’s frozen in that permanent O.”

He laughed.

“Oh, yeah. I guess you’re right, and you did see the body before I did.”

Lordy.

This man…

She was glad Bodhi was here. Later, he was going to go to the morgue to sniff around. When you had a spare forensic ME laying around, you didn’t look that gift horse in the mouth.

“What about the three women you have in the morgue?” Tori asked.

He shrugged.

“We have petechial hemorrhaging in their lungs, but they are too degraded. Tox came back negative. One of them did have herpes though. So look for a man with dick rot, and you’ll have a suspect.”

And a bunch of women who were likely sick too. If this was Cyrus, he was spreading it around.

When her phone rang, Tori stepped away.

She saw Hailey’s number.

“I have to take this,” she offered.

Bethany stayed close to Genesis, just in case the creepy ME bothered her.

“Yo,” she said, answering the phone.

“I’m just checking in. Are you guys okay?” she asked. “We finished the cake tasting, and now, we’re back in our room.”

She laughed.

“Girl, you have a sexy ME in your room, and you’re alone. Why are you calling me?” she asked. “Surely, you know what to do next.”

She snorted.

“I’m trying to be responsible.”

Tori didn’t need her to be.

“This weekend is about you. Let yourself have fun, and if you don’t fornicate a few times, you’re not doing it right.”
