And that broke his heart.
Because ultimately, he wasn’t in control.
Oracle was.
And if she was coming back…
It was going to be anything but fun.
It was going to be dangerous.
They could bet on that.

Lunch Date
When they walked into the restaurant, Bexley was the center of attention.
It happened a lot.
Honestly, she didn’t mind if her readers approached her. It was common, and something she’d grown accustomed to a long time ago.
People just noticed her everywhere they went.
That was her norm.
It was difficult to hide when her face had been all over, and she was a bestselling author. Instead of fighting it, Bexley rolled with it, signed a few napkins, and made sure she stayed close to her partner since Raven was with her.
They were opposites.
The attention was something Raven didn’t enjoy, and Bexley was very protective of him.
He liked to be alone, secluded, and protected. Bexley knew that when he was out in the open, it made him nervous, especially if he wasn’t with Booth.
That made her want to soothe him.
It was difficult not to feel his discomfort. So, that meant getting them away from her fans.
“Are you going to be okay?” she inquired as she asked the waitress to be seated in a certain section that Raven wanted to be in.
Raven was honest.
“I don’t like people being too close,” he said, holding her hand in his. “Not everyone has your energy, my love. It’s difficult to be bombarded by it.”
She smiled at him, and his heart did that jittery dance in his chest.
Oh, he loved every second of it too.
This woman was his all.
“I understand, Raven. We’ll be better here secluded,” she admitted.
When the woman tried to seat them, Bexley handed her a nice tip, and pointed at a table further back. No one was near it, and she wanted it.
