Lucian was honest.
“I’d never cheat on my Bish. She’s my queen,” he said, staring up at her as she sat beside him in bed. There were times he wished she was psychic, but you couldn’t always get what you wanted in life.
He had Ridge, and he loved the man for it.
But he wasn’t Bishop.
He’d nearly lost her when they were searching for Jagger’s wife and child. When he saw her face, battered, destroyed, and her on the brink of death, he knew how precious their connection was.
Now, it was even closer.
She was the mother of his child.
Cassia was special, and he knew it.
“Call if you need us,” she offered.
Oh, well, they would.
Tori and Genesis left, and Bishop knew what would make her husband feel better. This wasn’t the first, nor would it be the last misadventure into the static.
Unfortunately.
“You’re ice cold, Lucian. Let’s get you into a nice, hot shower. Then, if Ridge needs one, I’ll help him.”
He laughed.
“You absolutely will not be in a shower with another man, Bishop. I’m exhausted, not insane. I’ll go in with him,” he said. “If he needs me, I’ll do it. He’s my partner, and he’d do it for me.”
She didn’t question it.
In a way, Ridge was part of Lucian. They were a couple—of sorts. Just not in a sexual way. On this plane, they worked together, but in the static, they were bonded.
It was what it was.
“Come on, big guy,” she said.
He wasn’t ready.
“I’m too big for you to hold up in there. I need a few minutes and then, I’ll be able to do it.”
She kissed his cheek.
Bishop was curious.
“What really happened? Because I know you and Ridge. I’ve watched you walk in the static, and there isn’t much there that you guys can’t contain. Is it this case?”
Of course, his cop was going to go there.
This was tricky.
Lucian closed his eyes and made a choice. Then, he put all of his faith in his wife. He knew Ridge wouldn’t say anything, but he had to share with Bishop.
They didn’t have secrets.
“It was Oracle. She burned Ridge out so he couldn’t hear most of the conversation, and she put him out to talk to me.”
Bishop blinked.
