The Littlemoon PIs likely played right into his hand. Free help making him look good was always a plus for ambitious men.
“Well, we didn’t find four bodies, so…you’re probably right. The three were months ago, so right now, the missing attorney’s wife is not our circus, or our clowns.”
Tori hoped it stayed like that. This was going to be difficult enough.
“Okay, well, we’ll start with what we can handle. Bex, head to the hotel with Raven and drop off your things. I need you to research these people.”
She could do that.
“Uh, can someone snap a pic of the list and text me?” she asked as Lucian just emailed them what Julian had sent him. “Never mind, just got it.”
He winked at her.
“We’ll also be at the hotel,” Lucian stated. “Ridge and I will go into the static and see what we can pull out.”
The cop stared.
When she opened her mouth, Tori warned her.
“Don’t ask,” Tori said. “You don’t really want to know.”
She wasn’t so sure about that.
This was crazy, but fascinating.
Tori continued.
“Hailey, get your man, and get back to the hotel. You have to get presentable. You have a wedding to plan today, and you can’t miss that.”
“But shouldn’t I help you guys?” she asked, feeling bad she was bailing on them. This was kinda her fault.
Tori gave her a kiss on the cheek.
“No, honey. You need to get the wedding locked down so you can marry your ME. Bodhi deserves this, and so do you.”
She had a problem.
“But my dress.”
All three women touched her arm to connect to her. They were her family now.
“You call us. We’ll take a break and help you get the dress. There will be time. Go get ready to pick out your cake, and don’t stress us. We have this.”
She hugged them all.
“Thank you, guys.”
The detective didn’t understand that kind of camaraderie. She worked with men, and they were not female friendly.
Oh, unless they wanted to have sex with you.
After, not so much.
“Lucian, get us the hell out of here,” she said. “We have to start interviewing people. What time does the strip club open?” she said, to anyone who could answer.
“It’s open all day,” Lucian answered.
When he looked up at the silence, he saw his wife staring at him with one eyebrow up.
