The detective sat down. She felt nauseous that she was now going to be unemployed going forward.

There were dead women who needed her to do her job, and she would until her time there was over.

“Shall we?” Genesis asked, taking a seat. “Oh, and in case we weren’t formally introduced, I’m the very short-lived Detective Genesis Manning.”

Tori shook her hand.

Already, she was getting a plan not only for the case, but for this woman. They hired cops, and this one was about to be out of work.

Only, that would have to wait.

“Tell us about the bodies,” Tori suggested. “So we can get working on this. Anything you can give us will be helpful.”

Genesis stopped her.

The curiosity was killing her.

“First, why? Why do you care about this case?” she asked, needing to know.

Tori was honest.

“When we were skiing, I saw the dead woman. I wasn’t kidding. I’m psychic. It’s how I do my job. That’s why I went into the trees and followed her. I feel bad for her. I have dead in my life.”

As if on cue, Lucian’s phone came to life.

“DO. YOU. WANT. ME. TO. HAUNT. HIS. HOUSE?” Trey asked. “I. WILL. DO. IT. HE. CUFFED. MY. SISTER. ONLY. JULIAN. CAN. DO. THAT.”

Bishop laughed because he absolutely would do just that. Trey was a wild card.

When Tori glanced over at Bishop, she shook her head.

“Sorry. He’s a handful,” she said, feeling a kiss on her cheek. “I can’t help myself.”

“I. MISSED. YOU. BISHOP. DON’T. LEAVE. ME. AGAIN. THEY. DON’T. HAVE. OUR. CONNECTION.”

Tori just rolled her eyes.

Once you got Trey going, it was hard to slow that down.

“What was that?” Genesis asked, pointing at the attorney’s pocket.

Tori explained.

“The dead use electronics to talk to us. That’s my dead brother on a radio app. We all have them on our phones since not everyone can see him. Bishop and Bexley aren’t psychic,” she stated.”

Genesis wasn’t sure how she felt about that.

Uh, that was…weird.

Right?

Tori continued.

“Anyway, Trey and his dead wife are my spirit guides. They save my ass pretty much all of the time. That’s why my attorney and business partner knew to get here. They went and got them so that your partner couldn’t do anything worse to us.”
