It took Sydney a moment to respond. “It will be done by dawn.”

“Good girl. Do a good job and you will be rewarded.” He hung up and called Neil to give him

instructions about what to give Sydney. Once he was finished, he texted Lia for her to meet him at his

hotel. He needed to blow off some steam.

He shoved his phone back into his pocket and stared out the window. A smile played at his lips.

By the time the sun came up, Chase would be dead and Damian would be there to comfort Sabrina

over her loss. That thought cooled his temper. He’d originally planned a slower death for the man

who had caused such havoc to his schemes. It was a shame to let him off the hook, but it needed to be

done. Tonight.

Or, Sabrina might make the right choice and walk away from Chase to save his life. In all his

millennia of watching, he’d learned that anything could happen. Whichever choice Sabrina made

tonight, Chase would be defeated. Quick or slow, Damian would watch him suffer while he lost the

cuddled together on the couch in her apartment much later that night. Or rather, very early Saturday

morning. Her head rested on his chest with his arm around her shoulders, their fingers intertwined.

Sabrina was quiet for a moment. “I thought you had to be married by the end of the year.”

“Since we’re officially engaged, and you’re swamped with performances, Richard and the other

Elders agreed to give us a bit of leeway. It gives us more time to get everything ready.”

Sabrina sighed.

“What’s that sigh for?”

“I was looking forward to getting married soon.”

Chase laughed. “We will be. It’s just over two months away. There’s a lot to do between now and

then. My mom said it took over nine months to plan her wedding to my dad.”

“Really?”

He nodded.

“Okay. I guess as long as we get married, that’s all that matters.”

Chase smiled. “I agree. We have a meeting with the wedding planner on Monday afternoon.” He
