His house was full of memories and people. Loud. He should be thankful so many cared so much,
but right now he needed to be alone.
Well, as alone as he could be. Lance was around nearby. Somewhere, having promised his mother
and Richard that he wouldn’t let Chase out of his sight for fear he’d do something . . . rash, he thought
Richard had said.
He might. If he knew what to do. But the path before him was pitch black.
Again.
He hated feeling this way and yet, somehow, with Sabrina, he felt this way more than he liked to
admit. One moment he was the happiest man in the world. The next, the most miserable.
He sat down on a bench that had been cleared of snow, wincing at the pain in his ribs.

did he want her so much that he’d kill Chase for her? There had to be more of a reason than sadism.
What did he want?
Chase clenched his fist, remembering Richard inviting Damian into their Manor. Then he
remembered how he’d allowed himself to be deceived by the bastard. Played poker with him. Gone
on double dates with him. Broken bread with him. Drank with him. Laughed at his ‘everyman’ humor.
Been touched by the devotion he showed to his sister, the woman Jayson had fallen in love with.
But, as Richard reminded him every time Chase started railing at the deception, if those things
hadn’t happened, they would know even less about him than they did. Not a soothing thought, but
Chase couldn’t deny the truth.
Lia had admitted Damian was her brother, but that was it. Richard said she lay in bed most of the
