“I SAW HER AND COULDN ’ T FORGET ABOUT HER. A COUPLE OF WEEKS LATER, WE FINALLY MET , AND I
fell hard.” Sabrina sighed as Chase smiled at her before turning back to Lia. “I tried dating other
women, but none compared to Sabrina.”
“But you didn’t see her for five years?” Lia asked, her eyes wide.
Chase shook his head. “We’ve had a challenging time getting together, but we finally are.” He
squeezed Sabrina’s hand.
“Yeah, yeah,” Jayson said, rolling his eyes. “And you’re living happily ever after.”
“I think it’s sweet,” Lia said, shaking her head at Jayson. She smiled at Sabrina. “You fell in love

Lia put her napkin on the table. “I need to use the restroom. Wanna come?” She looked at Sabrina.
“Sure.” Sabrina kissed Chase’s cheek as she stood.
“Be careful,” he whispered.
“I’m just going to the bathroom. I’ll be fine.” Chase smiled, though Sabrina could tell he was
concerned. “What could possibly happen in a public restroom? Besides, I won’t be alone.”
“Do you remember much about the man who kidnapped you?” Lia asked as they weaved their way
through the tables to the back of the restaurant.
A flash of a face appeared in Sabrina’s mind and she blinked. It was the face from her nightmares
—always blurred before and forgotten upon waking—but now something in Lia’s emotions pulled the
memory to the surface. Lia was so terrified of the man this face belonged to, Sabrina couldn’t help but
