“No,” he said, his voice hoarse. The last hours had been torture, not knowing what was going on.
Not knowing if Sabrina would survive the Elders’ wrath. He closed his eyes. Just a few more
minutes. She would be here soon and he could hold her and see for himself that she was okay. “Was
your relationship with Anna this stressful?”
Alex chuckled. “In some ways. Being locked away in a foreign country, knowing she thought I
was dead, was not easy. But there was nothing I could do about it, so I do not know if I would
consider it stressful. Perhaps.” He was silent for a few minutes then shook his head. “We had a
challenging time at first, but I believe our love, our bond, is stronger because of it. Anna is . . .” He
sighed. “Amazing.”
Chase nodded. “That she is.”
“As is your Sabrina.” Alex tilted his head. “I do not know why we have been blessed with such
difficulty in our love lives, but it will make us stronger men in the end.”
Chase opened his mouth to question the idea of being blessed with difficulty but the door to the
room opened and all thoughts disappeared from his mind, except one: Sabrina.
She rushed inside and into his arms. Chase held her so close, he was afraid he’d smother her, but
she clung to him when he tried to loosen his hold. “Sabrina,” he murmured into her hair. “Oh, Sabrina.
I was so worried.”
She didn’t respond, but buried her face into his chest and held him harder than he thought
possible. They stood together for an eternity. He was consumed with her presence, her scent, her body
pressed against him. He never wanted to be separated from her again.
Someone cleared their throat and Chase glanced up to see Richard looking at them a faint smile on
his face. “She’s okay?” Chase asked.
Richard nodded and raised his eyebrows. “Kronos himself cast his protection over her with a
warning to the Elders.”
“He also blessed your marriage,” Tom added. “Not all Elder-Sons can claim the blessing of the
Father of the Immortals.”
Alex murmured something low in German.
Chase moved Sabrina to the couch as Tom and Richard told him what had happened at the Manor.
