Grace stood, and they both looked at the dress in the mirror. “Which one made you feel like a
princess?”
Sabrina thought back and tried to remember. “I think the lace one with the cap sleeves.”
Grace looked thoughtful and then nodded. “Go try it on again. If it’s the one I’m thinking of, it’s
my favorite, too.”
Celia took her back to the dressing room, and they searched through the racks of dresses she’d
previously tried on. Finally, she spotted the one she remembered and Celia helped her back into it.
She picked up the skirts and walked back out to the main area where the others waited.
The floor-length dress had cap sleeves made of lace that merged onto the bodice. The skirt was
made up of several layers of silky chiffon with an overskirt of delicate lace. The back was sheer with
the same lace appliqué as the front. Tiny seed beads embroidered into the lace gave it a hint of
sparkle when she moved.
Grace grinned at her in the mirror. “Is this the one?”
“Do you like it?” Sabrina asked.
“The more important question is, do you like it? Does it make you feel like a princess?”
Sabrina caught Ethan’s glance in the mirror, and he gave an encouraging nod. She looked back at
the dress and a grin spread across her face. Sabrina nodded.
“I think you look beautiful in it. And, yes, to answer your question, I love it. This is the one I was
thinking of. Your whole face lights up when you put it on.”
“I think a simple veil with lace edging is all you need. Do you want a blusher?” Celia asked.
“What’s that?”
“The shorter veil that goes over your face during the ceremony.”
Sabrina glanced at Grace. “Would that be okay?”
Grace laughed. “I’m old-fashioned. I think brides always look more beautiful with the blusher.”
Sabrina nodded at Celia, and she disappeared into the back room, returning a few minutes later
with a long stretch of white fabric in her hand. She fastened it to Sabrina’s hair and adjusted the sheer
fabric around her face and dress.
She looked in the mirror and her breath caught in her throat. “I feel like a bride.” Tears welled up
in her eyes. “I never thought I’d get to do this.”
Grace hugged her. “But you do. Focus on that.”
