Brotherhood, obviously, but they were their own section of the group. They didn’t cause trouble and

were helpful because of their proximity to the federal government. They did their own thing but kept

the larger Brotherhood in mind. At least we thought so.” He leaned back in his chair. “Alex’s father

will be here tomorrow. Since he’s been through something similar, we thought he would be helpful.”

“Is Alex coming?”

“I don’t know. I wouldn’t be surprised. Has he called you?”

Chase shook his head.

“Wilhelm said he was doing some research, so perhaps he’s been busy with that.”

“Maybe.”

Chase groaned as he shifted again.

“How are you feeling?”

“Like shit.” He shook his head. “I don’t know how that guy—” Chase frowned. “Richard, I know I

killed Neil when we found Sabrina. How is he still alive?”

Richard sighed. “I have no idea, Chase.”

“Can you turn a human Immortal? Can a human be raised from the dead?”

“I suppose both are possible,” Richard said slowly.

“He had gold flecks in his eyes. That wasn’t there when I shot him.”

Richard was quiet and the mood turned pensive. “I can’t say I approve of what you did, Chase. It

was foolish and dangerous.” He held up his hand as Chase opened his mouth to protest. “But I can’t

blame you for what you did. I know how much you love Sabrina and if I were in your shoes, I don’t

know if I’d have done any different.”

Chase smiled, but Richard continued.

“However, if you do that again, I will be forced to discipline you. Do you understand?”

Chase frowned but nodded.

“You are part of us, Chase. You need to trust us.”

“If I hadn’t gone, you wouldn’t have had this information.”

Richard nodded. “And I’m thankful for it.” He stood and patted Chase’s shoulder gently.

“Has Lia said anything?”

“No. It’s only been a few hours.” He sighed. “I put her in a guest room, but the room is guarded,

so she can’t escape.”
