if she wasn’t willing?

He untangled himself from his beloved and sat down in the comfy chair across the room, watching

her sleep. The clock said it was after five. She’d be sleeping for a while.

He hadn’t been able to talk to Ethan after they’d gotten home, either. He needed to be sure his

friend was okay with what was going to happen today—semi-public anal sex. Chase knew Ethan was

fine giving it in private, but public and taking it?

Chase shook his head.

Jayson. He needed to talk to him, too.

He leaned forward and tangled his fingers in his hair. He had to tell Jayson what was going on.

He’d be hurt if he found out about the guardianship secondhand.

So much to do, so little time.

He thought about crawling back into bed with Sabrina, but he knew he wouldn’t be able to sleep

and didn’t want to disturb her. There was too much on his mind.

He took a quick shower then headed downstairs. On the stairs, he heard noises coming from the

gym. Ethan was up already.

Chase stopped in the doorway and saw Ethan on the treadmill, sweat pouring down his bare back.

His muscles flexed and relaxed as he pumped his arms. His dark hair was wet, and he ran a towel

over his face and head, avoiding his earbuds.

Chase walked forward, hoping not to startle him.

Ethan pushed a button on the treadmill and straddled the belt. “What’s up?” he asked, panting and

pulling the earbuds out of his ears.

“Couldn’t sleep.”

Ethan nodded. “Me either.” He motioned to the machine he stood on. “Thought I’d get in a run

before the day started.”

Chase’s heart skipped a beat. “Fuck. I’ve left Sabrina alone while she’s sleeping. Come on up

when you’re done. I need to talk to you.”

He hurried back upstairs and to Sabrina’s side. She was sleeping peacefully, her cheeks and lips

pink. He ran his hand over her hair, and she opened her eyes and smiled. “Hi.”

His racing heart slowed. “You’re okay?”

“Of course I am.” She frowned. “Did something happen?”
