The man stared at her.

“Which clan are you from? I can only marry a clan heir.”

“I am a clan heir,” the man replied.

She blushed shyly. “Oh, that’s good. I’m glad my husband will be handsome and not a savage.”

The man continued to look at her.

“Sir, the Thakvar heiress is already the Kabali heir’s wife,” another man who had been listening stated. “The Kabalis will slit our throats if we are caught with her. We should just leave and hand her over to Mr. Tantra as planned.”

The man who spoke the words sounded terrified.

But the clan heir didn’t seem worried. “No, she’s right. If she didn’t accept the Kabali heir as her husband, the marriage would be invalid. Besides, the Thakvars are going to kill the Kabali heir soon. He will no longer be a threat to us.”

“But sir—”

“Change the plan. Let’s go towards the holy land to the Singoor temple. I will marry the Thakvar heiress.”

The other man looked shocked. “Sir, we can’t go against Mr. Tantra or the Kabalis and Thakvars!”

“We can. And I am prepared,” the clan heir boasted. “No one knows where we are. The clan heads meeting is on the other side of the holy land, and the meeting must have concluded, and everyone would have dispersed by now. By the time they find out you are missing, our marriage will have already taken place. And I will consummate the marriage tonight in the holy land tent.”

“But sir, Mr. Tantra—”

“Tantra is an outsider. The riches I will inherit marrying the Thakvar heiress are much more than Mr. Tantra could offer me.”

The other man didn’t look convinced. But he had no choice but to listen.

Soon, the men mounted the horses and headed to the holy land for a marriage ceremony.

The sun had set, and darkness was taking over.

Nandini was riding into the desert with the clan heir beside her.

Her heart thudded as they rode closer to the holy land.

A part of her was terrified that her plan might not work as she imagined and that she would end up having to marry the clan heir while her brothers and Rudra attacked each other.

But she knew she had to take the risk, or she’d be handed over to a man named Tantra, who was from outside Singoor. For all she knew, the man Tantra planned to kill her right away or take her far, someplace where she couldn’t be found.

Why does the man named Tantra want me?

And why does he want my brothers to kill Rudra?

Another shocking thought struck her.

Is Tantra responsible for setting fire to the Kabali tents and leaving the Thakvar clan insignia to blame her brothers?

She knew the fires were caused by drones, which most of the clans in Singoor didn’t have access to. Rudra had mentioned that it was the job of an outsider who was also the cause of several attacks in Singoor.

I have to find out who this Tantra is.

But first, she had to get out of the current situation.

She slowed down the horse when they neared an oasis. Immediately, the clan heir slowed his horse as well.
