I give him a tight smile, turning my head back around, but not before I notice a sparkle in his eyes.

He sits beside me before he asks, "You alright?"

"No Jax, I’m not." I whisper as I fight the tears.

His arm loops around me and the tears start again.

"Don’t cry Angel, I hate when you cry." He cups my jaw, raising my chin causing me to look up at him, brushing the tear from my cheek with the pad of his thumb.

"Don’t cry Angel." That smile curls, with his next words, "It’s happening Macie, I was offered a spot on the Nighthawks team."

My face fills with excitement and my heart pounds in my chest with my words, "Are you serious? Isn’t that the team you wanted."

He nods and I swear I can see tears in this man’s eyes, but I get the feeling of wanting something so much, working so hard for it, and getting it.

I throw myself into his arms and he pulls me into his lap. Straddling him, he holds me tight, and I return that tightness, feeling this with him. I whisper against his ear, "I’m so proud of you Jax."

He kisses my cheek before I pull back and look into those eyes, and he was right, patience.

"There’s a kicker to the deal." He chuckles and I lift my brow, "Oh yeah, and what’s that?"

"Sully’s going with us."

Saying Goodbye

Macie

Ihave not been this excited since I was a little girl. I can barely contain the shakes that are erupting in my body as I drive to Sully’s house. I don’t care if Sully goes. I’m used to Sully, and this was always their dream, to go pro together.

My brother did, but he decided not to go pro, which in my opinion, he’s throwing his talent away. Funny how mom is okay with that.

Jax said Sully doesn’t know so we are going to tell him now, as I pull into his driveway, following Jax, before I shut my car off and get out.

"So, when are we leaving?" I ask, because I’m ready right this second.

"I don’t know yet, let me talk to Sully first." I nod, understanding as I follow Jax into Sully’s house, well, it’s really a couple of the guys from the team, Dax, Brayden. But it's so quiet and Jax turns to me and chuckles his words, "That fucker is sleeping, I bet you."

"Oh, I got this." I giggle and sneak up to Sully’s room, Jax behind me, I try to not laugh, but it is so hard.

Sure enough, Sully sound to sleep in his bed, flat on his back, zonked and I snort a laugh, my cheeks hurting so much from my smile, before I continue to sneak into his room, before I jump, launching myself on top of him.

The laugh roars from my throat as his eyes fly open, scaring the shit out of him. Jax behind me curled over laughing, Sully’s eyes bounce from me to Jax, "What the fuck are you doing Macie?"

I can’t stop laughing, before I swing my leg and crawl from his lap and sit beside him in bed.

"What the fuck are you two doing?" Sully barks and Jax answers "I got the call man."

Sully’s sleepy eyes light up, "Are you serious?"

"Yeah, man, when you ready to go."

"Right fucking now!" Sully springs out of bed, he and Jax sharing their brother like hug, team mates all their life’s and now going pro together. It’s a big deal for them.

When they get done, Sully turns to me, holding that cocky smile, before he dives on top of me, with his laugh, ripping a laugh from my throat, "Whoa Girl!" he barks out, always the high energy kid, and Sully and I have always had a friendship.

He squeezes me tight before he finally lets me go and I sit back up, "You sure you can handle the big boys now baby girl."

"I think I’ve made it clear I can handle you guys, I think the better question is, can you handle me." I huff my smile.
