When he leaves, I enjoy the night’s sky stretching above me, and I type a message.

Tick-Tock. I haven’t forgotten about Richard.

His reply. Was that another bark?

This dog bites, but he’s always been more confident than is good for him.

Chapter 39

Ellia

“How was last night? Kian, are you listening to me? Wake up!” He props himself up on one elbow, rubbing his eyes, his voice laced with the remnants of sleep.

“Good morning to you, too. Someone is chatty today.”

“Come on.” I pout and sit up on bed, crossing my legs under me.

He scoots up, leaning his back against the headboard.

“Brandon’s done great at work. It seems that helps him cope with all the changes, and I have enough of that.”

“Good. I asked the girls to be the godmothers.”

“Yes, and I asked Kendrick and Brandon to be godfathers.”

“It’s pretty unusual to have two sets of godparents.”

“Who cares? Our baby will have more people to love and protect her.”

I peck him on the lips, and his hands on me tighten. He rolls me over with him on top of me supporting his weight on his palms.

“I can’t wait to have you again. It’s maddening. I miss feeling you on my cock. I am a sinner wanting to get back to heaven.”

I bite into his bottom lip, but the heat coursing through my body is replaced by a swift kick in my stomach from my daughter. I know he felt the kick as well by the look on his face.

“Welcome to parenthood,” I say.

He drops his head and blows raspberries between my breasts, whispering, “You’re my home.”

My heart swells with the endless love I have for him. We stay like this for a while, his head resting on my chest, while I run my fingers through his hair.

Once he leaves for the day, my fingers trace my lips where the shadow of his kiss still lingers.

After I change, I go to my studio. Paintings hang on the wall, and I think about the work I want to exhibit in the gallery until my belly growls.

I head up to the restaurant floor to get something to eat. I am about to order when I decide to send a message to Kian.

Are you busy?

I will always find time for YOU.

His reply puts a smile on my face.

I am about to grab lunch.

I am in the office and starving.

I chuckle and add, I’m only offering the regular kind of food.
