Chapter 42
KADRA
AM I TOO LATE?
“Will you love me forever?” — V
One year later, New York
“I’m cancer free?” I whisper incredulously as I type a quick message to Azariel. I did leave his side for this entire year but I answered every email and letter he sent. I was there for him the only way I could while I focused on healing not only my body but my soul and mind as well. The relationship with my sisters was also a priority.
“You are.” Adryel Croix, the man who has been treating me all through this year, manages to offer me a small smile as he delivers the news and at the same time he does confetti and horns pop all around me as I sit there in shock.
I’m cancer free.
After a long year I am finally free of that disease.
Adryel narrows his blue eyes at both my sisters in disapproval as they make a mess in his office. “Yay!” My little sister, Mila, hurries to my side hugging me tightly, giving me some of that beautiful light of hers while Arianna stands next to me with a confetti popper still in hand and a small child strapped to her chest. They’ve been my rocks throughout this painful experience. I don’t know what I would’ve done without them and my men. Every one of them came through for me without me even having to ask. They accompanied me to every chemo appointment. They’ve held my hand when I felt like giving up but most importantly they kept me sane when my fears were too much to bear.
They reminded me of the beautiful life that waited for me at the finish line. I kept fighting and gave it all I got for them.
For me.
But mostly for my Russian and my little king.
