Thirty-Four
Jaclyn
We walk inside the club and some song by Big Sean is blasting through the speakers making everyone on the dance floor jump up and down.
Two fighters are already in the ring, pushing one another against the cage and throwing each other on the floor.
Natalia said that Hayden has another fight today and she wanted me to come.
While we were getting ready at her house she kept asking me questions about Hayden and what I think of him. She told me she thought Hayden and I would be a cute couple and I just laughed at her.
I then started thinking, does Hayden have someone he’s seeing? Am I the only girl he’s touching or thinking about or are there more girls?
Thinking about that made my stomach churn and my chest ache so I pushed those obsessive thoughts out of my head.
I need to stop this thing with Hayden before it gets more out of hand to the point where I’ll obsess over everything he’s doing.
It’s not even a thing between him and I. It feels like electric energy trying to pull us closer to one another.
I shouldn’t be happy because Hayden is set out to ruin my life so why would I trust someone like him with my heart?
Natalia grips onto my hand as Chris drags us towards the bar where I see Kayden and Max.
Max is laughing while holding a glass of water in his hand while Kayden stares at him with an amused smile.
We walk up to them and Natalia flicks Max’s forehead making him pout at her and flick her forehead back.
He looks like a mess making me smile and hold in a laugh. Max moves his eyes off Natalia and looks at me while spilling water on my dress.
“Hey, Jack-O-Lantern.” Max pulls me into a hug and my dress gets soaked in the water that spilled from his cup.
I hug him back trying to ignore the uncomfortable feelings of my wet dress against my skin.
I look at Kayden and he has an amused smile on his face. “What did you give this guy?”
Usually Max can handle his liquor.
“We made a bet and he lost, obviously.” Kayden looks at Max and shakes his head lightly.
“Did he drive?” I look at Max who is smiling while still hugging me.
“No. I came here with Hayden and Max tagged along.”
Just hearing his name makes butterflies swarm in my stomach. God I wish I didn’t feel like this. I wish I didn’t feel all tingly when hearing the mention of his name or whenever he just touches my hand, thigh, or arm.
He makes me crave touch constantly which is unlike me because whenever someone touches me I hate it.
Like Max, him touching me right now makes me want to push him away but with Hayden’s touch I always want more.
“Alright!” the announcer yells in the mic making the music stop and everyone’s attention goes to him. “Tonight, we have a fight everyone has been waiting for. Hayden Night!” Everyone yells and cheers screaming Hayden’s name. “And Jayson Gonzalez!”
I turn my attention back on the group while getting Max’s hands off me. “I’m going to go to the bathroom. He spilled water on my dress.”
“Want me to come with you?” Kayden asks but I shake my head.
“I’ll be quick. I want to be back before the fight starts.” I say before leaving towards the restroom.
Luckily there’s no line so I go straight into the girls restroom.
