“Lake,” Blaze smiles. “Come with us.”
“Why?” I ask, confused. “Don’t you have to get a trophy now for winning the championship? What do I have to do with?—”
“Please come with us, baby. Let me help you.”
I have no skates, so Cash practically lifts me and carries me all the way where Luca is waiting for me.
He sets me back on my feet and I’ve never been so happy that I decided not to wear heels to the game, or I’d probably face plant in front of the entire town.
Luca takes my left hand and exchanges a look with Cash and Blaze before speaking.
“Lakyn, originally we thought we would wait until we’re all in Bridgeport, but?—”
Oh no. “We aren’t going to Bridgeport?”
Cash intervenes. “Oh, no. We are going to Bridgeport. They still want to see us on Monday, they don’t care about… the rest. They care about our game and on that we always deliver.”
Right.
“Then what?—”
Blaze shakes his head. “Let Luca finish, pretty girl. He’s already fucking this up, just put him out of his misery, please. He really sucks at speeches, I hope his father knows this if he wants to leave the throne to him one day.”
“Like I was saying,” Luca glares at the three of us. “We were going to wait until we were all in Bridgeport, but then we decided that we didn’t want to wait one more second—Guys, why the fuck are you standing by Lake’s side. Come to stand next to me, so we can ask her.”
Cash rubs the back of his neck. “Oh shit, you’re right.”
I don’t understand what’s going on.
“Lakyn Veronica Woods,” Luca takes a small silver box out of the pocket of his shorts and they all drop down on one knee. “Cash, Blaze and I love you with all our hearts. You’re the one for us and we all realized it the first time we each took you on a date. Like we said last night, you’re everything to us. Without you, nothing matters. So will you make us the luckiest men in the world and marry us?”
He opens the box to reveal the biggest diamond ring I’ve ever seen; it’s a round central diamond surrounded by a circle of blue sapphires.
“I—I can’t marry all three of you and you know I can’t choose?—”
Cash grabs my hand bringing my knuckles to his lips. “We’ve talked about it, baby. Blaze and I don’t mind if you marry Luca. That would make you an actual princess and since you reign on our hearts?—”
Blaze slaps him on the back. “Dammit, Cash. You’re lucky you got a date with Lakyn because of that auction, because if you had to rely on your pick up lines, you’d have been fucked. What Cash is trying to say is that Luca one day will need a queen and you’d be perfect. Besides, if we get married in Montebello, there are some definite perks.”
Luca nods. “I’ll explain better later, but in my country any number of people can register as a family. I would be your legal husband, but Blaze and Cash would be on a document that says they’re part of our bubble, pretty much. It’s an ancient tradition in Montebello and the members of these bubbles have the same rights as spouses. So, will you marry us?”
My eyes fill with tears and for once, they’re happy tears. “Yes. Yes, I’ll marry you.”
The arena explodes in louder cheers than a few moments ago, when the Knights won the championship.
The telltale music alerts us that the Jumbotron is on us. “I think we should kiss now,” Luca says, slipping the huge ring on my finger.
His lips are warm despite him being on the ice and his kiss is as delicious as ever, but ends too soon. “Do you like the ring, by the way?” he whispers in my ears. “It belonged to my Bisnonna, the last reigning queen of Montebello. I asked Mom to bring it during their visit, so the guys and I could propose.”
Before I can say anything, Blaze pulls me into his arms. “Hey, stop hogging our fiancée. I want a kiss too.”
I melt into his kiss, his lips impossibly soft, his strong arms keeping me from falling on the ice.
Cash clears his throat before pulling me against his chest. “My turn now. I love you, baby.”
I’m so happy that my heart could burst in my chest. Wait until I tell Bay.
Yes, but where is Bay?
