Page 27 of Worth Fighting For

As if that would happen. It took everything within him not to laugh at his Omega. “I don’t think you’re contagious.”

Coleson leaned back into him and Renzo instantly wrapped him up in his arms. “You don’t know that.”

“Love, trust me. You aren’t contagious.” He held Coleson, supporting his weakened body. “You’re pregnant.”

Tension stiffened his Omega’s body for several long moments. Then he curled into Renzo and smiled. “Are you sure?”

“Without a test, I can’t be positive, but yes, love, you are pregnant.” Damn, but he loved Coleson more than ever when those blue eyes danced with happiness.

“We’re going to be fathers,” Coleson exclaimed before lurching forward and emptying his stomach once again. If the past two days were anything to go by, this should be the last time.

When Coleson slumped back against him again, Renzo handed him the cup of water he’d filled when his love had raced from their bed to the bathroom. “Thanks,” Coleson mumbled as he swished his mouth out. “I think I need to brush my teeth because I want to kiss you.”

Smiling, he pressed his lips to his Omega’s temple. “I would love nothing more.”

When Coleson actually scrambled up from the floor, Renzo didn’t hold back his chuckle. Not that he wasn’t right behind him, but he loved how eager his love was.

It felt good to laugh. The past month had been extremely stressful as they waited for an attack. Nothing had happened to so far, but they knew it would come at some point and the residents of Sanctuary were training for it.

Weapons training was mandatory for everyone and hand-to-hand combat, too. A perimeter had been set up and was monitored at all times, both in person and with satellite cameras. Four of the Omegas that had been saved, as well as one of the original men who’d started Sanctuary, were fortunately knowledgeable in electronics.

Three teams had gone out on scouting missions for supplies to stock them with enough guns and ammunition to start a war. Thankfully, they’d also been able to find more medical supplies and enough walkie talkies for every house within Sanctuary to have one. They would continue to search for more, but at least if the town was attacked, each household would be informed.

No one, not Alpha or Omega, could be out of the main part of town alone. They had deemed the downtown area to be safe enough, as there was always someone out and about, but even side streets were considered off limits to anyone alone.

“Now, about that kiss,” Coleson said as he put away his toothbrush and turned to Renzo.

Taking his love into his arms and holding him close was absolutely perfect. But the moment their lips met, he was in heaven. Coleson was the love of his life, and Renzo wasn’t about to let him go.

Both of them groaned when the doorbell rang and they were forced to end their kiss. Was it really too much to ask to spend the day loving on his Omega? When it rang again, he knew they would not get the chance to bask in each other.

“Fucking Westland and his insistence we get that fucking jail ready,” Coleson grumbled.

The cells in the jail were electronic, but because Coleson hadn’t deemed a priority to be hooked up to the power grid when they’d gotten the solar and hydroelectric up and running, none of them could be locked. Ford had worked hard for the last two weeks to change that, but when he had, they’d discovered most of the doors wouldn’t lock like they were supposed to.

Since Coleson knew everyone’s skills who lived there, he needed to talk to the few who might be able to fix the problem. Which made little sense to Renzo. “Why do we need all the cells to lock?” he asked. “Is Westland expecting to arrest that many people that we need fifty cells?”

Coleson chuckled as he took Renzo’s hand and led them downstairs to the still ringing door. “Who the hell knows? I personally think he’s OCD. Do you know he irons his jeans? I mean seriously. Who the hell does that? Especially out here in the middle of nowhere.”

Renzo couldn’t stop the snort that erupted from him at the thought of ironing jeans. It wasn’t like they wrinkled much. Nor could anyone tell if they had wrinkles. “You’re making that up,” he accused his Omega.

But Coleson stopped with the hand not holding his on the doorknob. His expression was serious as he shook his head at Renzo. “I swear. I only know this because Fennec was there to eat dinner with Oxley and saw him doing it.”

When he opened the door and sure enough, it was Westland in a t-shirt and jeans, that appeared perfectly pressed, they both busted up laughing. Westland narrowed his gaze at them. “What’s so funny?”

Coleson waved his hand at him like it was nothing and said, “We just found out I’m pregnant and are happy.”

Yeah, like that would make them laugh hysterically.

Thankfully, Westland didn’t question it. “Congratulations. Are you ready to go?”

After giving Renzo a kiss, Coleson left. Since he wouldn’t be able to spend the day with his Omega, he headed to the hospital to check on the supplies one of the search teams had brought back a few days ago.

For the most part, any medications they’d received were well past their expiration date, but Renzo figured it was better to have something rather than nothing. That said, he made certain to stock them based on their dates, in case anything went bad.

There had also been several large boxes with gauze, bandages, and paper tape that would need to be put away. It wouldn’t necessarily keep him overly busy, but since he had nothing else to do, he figured he might as well do it.

He was halfway there when he heard it. Gunfire. Then several walkie talkies erupted with a squawk before a voice shouted through it. “Alphas to the east.” Then there was another squawk and a different voice yelled, “Alphas to the west.” But it was the third one that chilled him to the bone when it screamed, “A boat is pulling up to the dock.”
