"That was a wonderful performance!" I cheer the performers, and they give us a collective bow, dropping almost as low as the dwarf had earlier.
The next part of the park experience happens to be mermaids, and I've never seen eyes grow as large as Luna's when she noticed the tails that were as colorful as a rainbow.
We play a couple of arcade games, and I keep getting shocked at how excited Luna seems to be.
She's just like Winnie when it comes to agility. Even at her young age.
The day feels like precisely what I had planned for us. It’s been a fun time out and a way for us to bond as a family.
We also took many pictures to serve as reminders. Luna had a huge smile in all of them, and when I remarked almost emotionally that she was getting old, Winnie teased me for the rest of the journey back home.
"I almost forgot; we need to stock up on some diapers and baby products." Winnie reminds me when we're halfway to the house. I take an exit and drive us to a supermarket.
"I'll only be out for a couple of minutes," I tell them as I head out of the car with my wallet.
Someone had to stay with Luna in the car, and the mall was bound to be chilly since it had gotten quite remarkably cold outside.
I spend ten minutes or so ticking off some items on my mental list. I've gotten quite good at this shopping thing.
A very efficient girl dad. I felt proud of myself, and as I turned with my bags of new purchases, I almost bumped into someone.
"Fancy watching where you're going, son?" It's my mom, and she shakes her head at me while I apologize profusely.
"Sorry I didn't see you there." I hug her with the bags squishing in between us. She smiles at what I'm buying.
"I remember those days," she remarks, and we walk out together. She's holding a single bag, and I wonder what's in it. She notices my attention and rolls her eyes.
"It's just some wine and cheese. We're having guests over, and some of them would be expecting that."
"Ah." I nod in understanding.
We walk until we're close to the car.
Through the windows, we can see Winnie singing along to the radio.
Her arms swing as she entertains an attentive Luna. I'm not sure they can see us from here; they're so caught up in their mini-car concert.
My mother smiles warmly at the scene before us. "It's so good that she's doing much better now. Her episode was quite alarming."
What? "What episode?" I asked her, at a complete loss.
Mom suddenly remembers that she needs to be somewhere, and she hugs me hurriedly before heading towards her car.
I stand there like an idiot until I force my feet to head toward the direction of my car. I shove the bags into the trunk and head for the driver's seat.
Winnie notices the look on my face when I close the door behind me. "What is it?"
"What episode did you have?" I ask plainly.
"Excuse me?" She rears back in alarm. The worry disappears from her face.
"Yeah, I just ran into my mother, and she mentioned something about an episode?"
Winnie's mouth opens and closes as she struggles to find an answer.
