Winnie looks up with surprise, but her mouth soon splits open with a happy grin, as Luna playfully tickles her chin with her tiny hands.

I watch them both with a warm feeling in my heart, feeling like the luckiest man ever in the whole world.

We’ll make a perfect family.

As if sensing my gaze, Winnie glances over at me with a questioning look. “Still here?” She raises a brow at me. You know you don't have to stay if you don't want to...” Her voice trails off slightly as Luna begins squirming in her arms and reaching for me again.

I stretch my hand to grab Luna, place her on my shoulder, and smile. “No, no, it’s fine. I want to be here..." I trail off. "Actually, I'd love to talk to you..." I admit.

The words were out of my mouth before I could stop them. As they leave, though, I realize how ridiculous it sounds, “Oh no, I mean…I really don't have anything to do today. So, I do not know if I could spend time with you both." I speak. "I mean, if you don't mind." I quickly add.

Winnie smirks mischievously, “So, you've just been waiting to get this opportunity right all day?” She teases me as she gets Luna, who starts squirming on my body and drops her on the ground with her toys.

“Well, I...” I start saying, trying to think of an excuse. But Winnie interrupts my response before I can say any more.

“That's okay,” she says with a bright smile. I think I can use an extra hand here."Her eyes gleam mischievously as she gestures at Luna, who is crawling around playing with her dollies.

I chuckle softly before looking at Luna, "How about we start with you changing her diaper when she messes it up? Like right now even, I think I can smell something," Winnie asks, her eyes glinting, as she looks expectantly at me.

"Uhm..." I trail off, scratching the back of my neck. How about we do it this way? When we finally get married, we can then split Luna's responsibilities between ourselves." I say with a suggestive smile playing on my lips, mentally fist-bumping while I stare at Winnie intently, making sure she takes the bait.

I see Winnie’s eyes widen slightly before narrowing as she looks at me accusingly. Her eyebrows crease together before the corners of her lips twitch upwards. “But it'll be on my terms," she smirks, and I find myself visibly swallowing. My eyes follow the movement of her lips as she speaks again before I snap out of my trance.

"What?" I ask incredulously. I swallow again, as my brain tries to slowly process what she had just told me. "On your terms?" I asked again in confusion.

"You heard me," Winnie says, her smirk growing wider. "For everything." The challenge in her voice is unmistakable.

I blink twice, trying to process what I was just told before a wide smile stretches across my face. "I think I like that," I say breathlessly.

My heart pounding rapidly against my chest. I bite my bottom lip to keep from grinning like a fool. "But what would your terms be?” I ask my voice husky from excitement. “Anything."

"Hmm..." Winnie hums, and her expression changes dramatically from playful to serious. I can practically see her thinking.

Finally, her beautiful eyes shift back onto mine, and a more beautiful but seductive smile plays on her lips, building my anticipation. “Where's the fun if I say it rather than show it?"

Her words echo in my mind as I nod and give her another wide grin. "I'm game." I wink. I feel the blood rushing through my ears, and I take a step closer to Winnie as if drawn toward her by a magnetic force. "Anywhere. Anytime."

I move a little bit closer until we are toe to toe, our noses almost brushing against each other.

I reach up with my free hand and caress her cheeks, my thumb stroking her soft skin. Then I lean forward, and she shifts back, "Luna..." She reminds me, as it has totally skipped my mind that we have company.

"Oh, yeah," I say and move back a bit, scratching the back of my head, wishing, for the first time ever, that Luna is nowhere nearby.

"Plus, all of this is just for the show. None of this is real," Winnie says suddenly, her tone back to serious once again as she moves towards Luna, carrying her into her arms. She heads for the door, leaving me standing there, holding Luna, who yawns loudly and closes her eyes.

“Right,” I say with a tight lip smile.

CHAPTER 10

Winnie

The engagement ring is as heavy as a rock on my finger.

I toy with it, watching the way it sparkles. Apparently, this is just the first ring. I’ll get my second ring later, one that’s nicer and that I can wear for special events.

This ring is already the nicest thing I’ve ever seen.

“Do you get to keep it? When are you guys done?” Austin asks, sipping his beer.
