I shower while they soak in the bath. As soon as the water is off, Luna starts giggling. “Daddy’s home.”

Chapter 5

Mateo

As soon as the door is closed behind me, Greg stands from the floor, dropping a bag of no-longer-frozen peas. “What the hell happened here?” I snarl, my eyes narrowing on him.

“Nyx, that fucking bitch.” He growls back.

I roll my eyes, “I don’t think she’s going to be a problem anymore.”

He cocks his head to the side, a confused look on his face. “I don’t even want to know.” He shakes his head and picks the peas up from the floor.

“I want this place locked the fuck down.” I say over my shoulder as I reach the stairs.

“You got it, boss!”

When I reach the bedroom door, I hear the girls giggling on the other side; bringing a small smile to my face. Opening the door, I see they’re laying on the bed next to Enzo. He’s the first one to look my way and speak. “They really suck at pretending to sleep.” He chuckles.

“What happened?” Luna asks, sitting up and pulling the blankets to cover her chest.

“Nyx showed up at the restaurant and stabbed Karrion.” I close the door and walk toward the bed.

“She did what?” Aurora gasps.

“He’s alive and pissed.” Rubbing my hands down my face, I kick my shoes off and sit on the edge of the bed, facing away from them. “I tried to get her out of there, I promise I did.”

“Mateo Tomasso Rossi,” Luna scolds, jumping off the bed to stand in front of me, “Tell me you didn’t leave her there to be killed!”

“He didn’t give me a choice, Luna. It was either leave, or get myself killed.”

“Where did I leave my phone?” Aurora mumbles, checking the night stands and dresser. Once she finds it, she taps the screen a few times and sits it on the dresser. The ringing sound fills the room before it goes silent.

“Hello?” A man’s voice booms through the speaker.

“Where is my friend?” Luna shouts, putting her hands on her hips.

“Oh shit, one second please.” He drawls. “What’s your name?” A rustling sound comes through the speaker.

“Fuck yourself.” We hear from Nyx.

“I’m sorry, Fuck Yourself is a little tied up right now. She’s gonna have to call you back.”

“Karrion, let me talk to her!” Luna demands.

“I’m fine, Luna.” Nyx moans. Internally, I roll my eyes.

“Nyx, are you fucking him?” Aurora asks, leaning closer to the speaker.

“No,” she squeals as a loud slap rings out, “He’s fucking me.”

“Ok, thanks for calling.” Karrion laughs, “Let’s catch up over coffee soon. Just us girls.”

The line goes silent and we all exchange confused looks. “Well, that can’t be good, right?” Rory questions.

“If there’s anybody in this world that could fuck their way out of trouble, it’s Nyx.” Enzo jokes, earning another internal eye roll. Everyone has their panties in a wad over this bitch, and I don’t understand it.

“I’m exhausted, I’m going to sleep.” I pull my shirt over my head and kick my pants off before climbing in bed. “We’ll figure out what’s going on with Nyx in the morning.” Enzo rolls to the side, giving me a quick kiss “I love you, Lorenzo.”
