“Ma,” he said.
“Yep, little guy, I’m your Ma.”
“She’s all set.” Cal came back in and knelt next to me, holding a mug of coffee. “For you.”
“Half-caff?” I asked.
He nodded.
“Ugh, do you have to be so strict?”
He pulled me into his side and kissed my temple. “I certainly do.”
“Da.” Benjamin interrupted our moment, and I took a long sip of coffee.
“Hey, buddy. Should we take Mom to get some pancakes?”
“You should,” I said, nodding enthusiastically.
“Come on.”
We stood, Cal lifting Benjamin, and headed for the kitchen.
“You need to go to work,” I told Cal.
“I will. Soon. I’m enjoying the moment.”
Sitting down, I smirked, pushing my curly hair out of my eyes. “Look at that, the party boy has settled down into domestic bliss.”
Cal winked and got in the last word. “I can still party with the best of them. Before nine o’clock.”
