“It wasn’t the right move at the moment.” I voice out loud.

And it wasn’t. I don’t know how I would have reacted if he had given me his mother’s ring all those months ago. I probably would have freaked out that he was treated the marriage with a lot more seriousness than I thought necessary given the agreement.

Bennett gives me a nod. “No it wasn’t. But things change and I started thinking about giving it to you a few weeks ago and I finally asked Henry for it. It’s yours if you want it.”

Words aren’t able to form on my lips, so I give him a nod while I try to hold back tears.

With a smile on his lips, he takes my hand in his and places the ring at the tip of my finger.

“Are you sure” I ask, just before he slides the ring just above the one he gave me on our wedding day. The one that I know I will cherish jut as much as the one that belonged to Cathrine Lane.

“One hundred percent sure. Not only do you I love you more than I can ever comprehend, but you take the nightmares away. The bad memories don’t come when I’m with you. You are the light to the darkness that I needed and I’m never going to give you up. No matter how much the fear of losing you may affect me. You own my damn heart and now you can carry something that symbolizes that wherever you go.”

A tear escapes the corner of my eye and Bennett reaches over and wipes it away, just before he adjust the ring so it facing correctly on my finger.

The ring is absolutely beautiful. I never want to take it off.

“Thank you for trusting me with it.” I say before leaning up and giving him a kiss.

A smile forms on his lips when I pull away. “Thank you for agreeing to marry me.”

“I’d marry you a thousand times over, if I could.”

“Is that so?”

“One hundred percent.”

He stays silent for a second, but when he speaks again, he takes me by surprise. “Then let’s get married.”

“What?”

“Let’s get married again. For real this time. No arrangement or timeline in place. No satisfying of any clause. Let’s get married again, but because we truly want to.”

I think about it. It would be nice to have a wedding that I can look back on and think about how happy I was instead of how scared because I didn’t know what two years married to a practical stranger was going to do to me.

Not even two minutes into thinking about the idea, I’m giving Bennett a yes.

“Okay, let’s get married again.”

Bennett pounces. One second I’m sitting next to him, giving him a smile, the next I’m on my back and he is on top of me, giving me a look like he is ready to devour me for the rest of the night. But hunger isn’t the only that is floating though his eyes.

Love also floats in between.

He loves me just as much as I love him.

It’s crazy to think that eight months ago, we were just strangers. I needed a job and he needed an assistant. The job was nothing more than just a much needed paycheck for me but it has turned into so much more.

Love and commitment. Safety and protection. Family and forever.

Bennett Lane gave me so much the day that he hired me and I will forever be indebted to him. I will spend the rest of my life , making sure that he knows just how thankful I am for him and everything that he has done for me.

Who knew taking a job in the corporate world would be so good to me.

I run my fingers through his hair. “Thank you for hiring me to be your assistant and changing my life. I will never be able to thank you.”

He turns his head and places a kiss against my palm. “Thank me by never leaving me.”

“I would never dream of it.”
