“Like this crystal,” Professor Garnet said, taking it back and clasping the short chain around my neck. The pendant came to rest where my collar bones met on my chest.

“Very touching,” Officer Keres said sarcastically. “Now, shall we try this?”

My mage trance overlaid my vision of Professor Garnet. His ruby red magic danced with mine, reaching toward me, before sparkling through the circulatory system of magic pulsing through his life force.

I trembled, my insides melting with desire. Need and lust flowed through me in an endless river of sensation. I transferred by accident too many times. I needed completion.

“Focus, Aphy,” Professor Garnet growled. His relaxed meditation posture didn’t reflect the lust in his voice. “Don’t transfer again. Give me what I asked for and only what I asked for.”

“You’re not supposed to be giving orders,” Officer Keres said, his voice distant.

“Aphy,” Professor Garnet’s voice took on a hard edge. “Concentrate your magic and force me to clap.”

Something clicked. For the last twenty minutes, I’d either transferred or been unable to act. But with his voice commanding me, my magic went from a fizzled mess of wires to a well-oiled machine. I held my hand out in front of me. A dark bead of crystal sparkled with rainbows as it grew between my thumb and pointer finger.

I held it out to the professor, who narrowed his eyes but took it. The moment it made contact with his skin, it disappeared into his body.

He clapped.

I trembled with desire and adrenaline. My blood pumped in my veins as my new magic lingered on my fingertips. My sex pulsed and I squeezed my thighs, rubbing my hands down my torso to brush my swollen nipples. It was too much.

“Aphy, stop,” Professor Garnet commanded.

I managed to still my hands and they hovered above my thighs.

A deep groan of need ripped out of the professor’s chest. My magic sparked in his hair. I released my mage trance, and brought my legs to my chest, rocking slightly. Desperately trying to resist the pull to the mage in front of me. My magic boiled. I needed to complete my transfer. My gaze drifted over the professor’s solid form, just within reach. God, he was handsome. All sharp angles and hard lines. The diamond shape of his jaw only enhanced his full lips.

His commanding voice reverberated in my memory. I shivered, letting it curl around me.

“That’s it,” Professor Garnet said. “That’s all I can do, and Aphy’s mind is only on one thing now.”

I shook my head, following Professor Garnet’s lips as he spoke.

“I’ve never seen anything like this,” Officer Keres said, amazed. “I know transfers are illegal because of the sexual pull and the need for completion, but this is something else.”

“You got what you wanted,” Professor Garnet growled. “Let Aphy get back to her room so she can ride this out however she needs to.”

Officer Keres peeked down at his phone. “It’s only been twenty minutes, and she was only successful once. We don’t even know what she made.”

Professor Garnet stood in one fast, smooth motion. He lunged at Officer Keres, picking the man up from his chair by his neck. My magic swirled around the professor, rustling the papers on his desk and pulling at the edges of the yoga mats.

“I’m supercharged at the moment,” Professor Garnet growled. “Aphy is wound too tight right now.” He shoved the officer into the wall. “Give her space to learn. She already managed to stop a transfer five times. Now, she’s created new magic I’ve never seen.”

Officer Keres started choking, his voice coming out in spurts. “How dare–you presume to tell–me what to do!”

I started rocking harder and fisted my abdomen, my hand slowly drifting. The floor shook. Or maybe I shook. I didn’t know at this point. Officer Keres’ red face started turning purple.

“You’ve never been a battery pack for an authority using your magic to hurt others,” Professor Garnet said too calmly for having a man dangling in his grip. “You’ve no concept of the mental fortitude it takes to control what we’re holding back. This type of power inflames basic human instincts. You will listen because I can bring down this entire building with a thought.” The floor shook again. This time I knew it wasn’t me. “Aphy’s not your experiment.” He growled. “I will set her limits.”

Officer Keres spluttered as his thrashing grew weaker. With a grunt, Professor Garnet dropped him and backed away with his arms out. The MA Officer fell like a stone. He hit the ground hard, sucking in air. His hand drifted toward the stick at his waist.

I didn’t see the professor move, my magic made him so strong and fast. He suddenly had the weapon pressed into Officer Keres throat.

“A rod of incapacitation,” Professor Garnet said. “I can’t kill you with it, but you’ll wish I had.”

The two mages stared each other down.
