“Do you think they followed us?” I probed.

“We hit their tire, and it flipped over.”

I raised a hand to my mouth in shock.

“How much more damage can she do?” I looked out the window.

“Aydin’s going to be fine. Try to stay away from the windows.”

“Nervous they’ll hurt him.”

“Aydin’s tough.”

“Not from bullets.”

“We’re trained for battle.”

“Is that supposed to make me feel better?”

“Does it?”

“Not really.”

“Aydin’s the best in the business, and he cares about you.”

“Thanks, Nicco.”

“Try to relax.”

“You’re right.”

Nicco left the house, and I lifted the phone and dialed Dani’s number.

“Mrs. Edwards or should I call you Mrs. Reeve,” Dani suggested.

“Glad someone can laugh.”

“What happened?”

“Girl, I was just in a shoot-out.”

“Shoot-out!” Dani screamed. I removed the phone from my ear.

“I’m fine, Dani.”

“Do you need me to come over?”

“No, the less people I have to worry about the better.”

“Amelia, what the hell are you talking about? I’m your best friend,” she barked.

The door opened, and Aydin, Nicco, and Nasir stepped in and shut the door.

“Aydin just came into the house.”

“Are you hurt?”

“No, we made it back to his house.”
