“Yeah, I can work from here. Molly’s back early, and I’ll check in with her.”
“All right.”
I angled to leave but stopped.
“Do you want to have dinner tonight?”
“Dinner like a date?”
Women usually came easy for me, but she was a puzzle I couldn’t figure out but enjoyed learning piece by piece.
“You can call it a date or two people who like to eat food.”
She blushed, and that only made me want her even more. I knew with us working together, it would never work out.
Amelia went on to finish her makeup, and I walked out of her room and down to my office and sat at my desk. I logged into the camera system of my home and the office and saw Molly step in and hug a few of the guys. I lifted my phone and dialed her number.
“I wondered when you’d call.” Molly placed her bag on the desk and picked up the messages.
“Congrats on the wedding; he’s a lucky man.”
“Thank you, so what’s been going on while I was gone?”
“How much time do you have?” I jested.
“Plenty, we’re closing on a house soon, so I can catch up on work before I pack up our apartment,” Molly replied.
“Amelia’s staying at my place.”
“Why?”
“Someone tried to kill her.”
“Are you serious?”
I shifted in my seat and stood, looking out the window.
“She came across some stuff she shouldn’t have, and Addison is involved.”
“Of course Addison is behind everything.”
“We went to Chicago, and they tried to take us out.”
“Aydin, you can’t be serious.”
“Very serious.”
“What do you need me to do?”
“For now, keep the office running. Amelia’s determined to continue her work.”
“Really? I’m surprised she hasn’t left the country for her sanity.”
“Believe me, I tried to get her round-the-clock security at first, and she refused. Then the attempt escalated, and I forced her to stay with me.”
“Aydin, you can’t treat her like a normal client.”
“My mom has already yelled at me about how I went about bringing her here.”
