“I’m in the security business.” He ended the call, and I shook my head.

“Everything okay?” Mom questioned.

“I’m going to head to Dani’s.”

“Who was that on the phone?” Dad asked.

“My boss.”

I grabbed the food container and poured enough for me and Dani, put the lid on top, and kissed them both on the cheek.

“Something you need to tell me?” He watched me put the plate in the sink, and I sighed.

“Mom can fill you in after I leave, but I’m okay. I promise.”

Ten minutes later, I walked out of my parents’ house, and when I got in my car, I saw one parked across the street, and they waved at me. All I planned on doing was go out and have dinner with my family and then head home to a nice bubble bath, with a glass of wine. Before I turned off to Dani’s apartment, I pulled into Walmart and saw the guards pull up a second later. He started to get out, but I waved him off.

“I’ll be fine. I only need to grab a few items. You can stay in the car.”

“Our order is to stay with you at all times.”

I held my hand up to stop him.

“It’s Walmart; there are cameras everywhere.”

He gazed down at his watch.

“Ten minutes; if you’re not out, we’ll come in to get you.”

“Deal.”

I left them out in the car and walked into the store, lifted the basket and went to the aisle to pick up a few soaps and toothpaste I needed to replenish.

“Ouch… excuse me.”

“I apologize. I didn’t see you there.”

“No problem.”

I started to walk off.

“Excuse me, you dropped this.” I looked behind my back, and he held a pen out to me.

“That’s not mine.”

“You sure?” He walked up on me, held it out to me, and smirked.

“Positive.” I turned, and he gripped my arm.

“Wait.”

“Ummm…”

“Amelia, everything okay?” I peered up at the guard coming toward us, and the guy who bumped into me released his hold on me and strolled away.

“I… I… yeah. Done.”

“Who was that?”
