“So sorry about this, but I couldn’t wait.”

“You’re not fired.” Nasir leaned on the edge of the desk.

“How did you know that’s what I was going to ask?”

“I know Aydin.” His mouth jerked into a grin.

“What’s his deal?”

“Once you get to know him, things will smooth out.”

“Are you sure I won’t get fired again if he sees me?”

“He won’t. I promise.” Nasir stood and headed around his desk to take a seat. I stepped closer to the desk.

“There’s something else I need to talk to you about.”

“Go ahead,” he said, his voice firm as a rock.

“How long has Addison Chatsworth been a client?” My voice shook slightly.

“A while. Is something wrong?” He placed his pen down on the desk and focused on me.

“Well, I’m not sure, or maybe I’m thinking too much into things.”

“Have a seat and start from the beginning.”

“I think Addison Chatsworth is about to steal the election.”

“How do you know that?”

“I overheard her talking about killing someone.”

“Hold up! Addison Chatsworth, the daughter of Edgar Chatsworth?”

“I know it seems crazy, but I heard it really clear.”

“You heard, but did you see?” He raised a brow.

I sat back in the seat, dropped my shoulders, and knew then he wouldn’t believe me.

“The door was closed, but—”

I was cut off when he raised his hand.

“Listen, Amelia, I think you’re doing a great job, but unless you have proof, it would be hard to bring this to Aydin.”

“There was a guy there too.”

“Do you know if they saw you?”

“I doubt it, because I left right after I heard the words kill.”

He rubbed a hand down his face as someone knocked on the door.

“It’s open!” Nasir yelled out, and I turned to see Aydin open and close the door.

“Just ignore what I told you.” I stood and started to leave his office.
