The next day.
Dani pulled up to the Angel’s Café and headed toward the hostess station at the door. I waved for her to notice me at the table. She came over, bent down, hugged me, then sat across with the menu in front of her.
“You looked refreshed.” I lifted the water jug to pour a glass for her and then myself.
“I had a good sleep after the party.”
“A good sleep with a sexy man.”
She pushed her lips together for a kiss and grinned.
“Shussssh.” I took a sip of my water, and the server approached our table.
“Hello, I’ll be your server. My name is Todd.” He pulled out a pen and paper.
“Can I get the tuna melt and side salad, plus onion rings,” Dani ordered.
“I’ll have the same.” I gathered my menu and passed it to him.
“And to drink?”
“Coke is fine.”
“Arnold Palmer for me,” I answered.
Todd picked up our menus and left us alone at the table.
“Give me the details on this business.”
“Nothing major, but I found a spot not far from Aydin’s firm.”
“You ready to take on the responsibility?”
“I mean, it’ll be like any business.”
“Yeah, but you’ve always worked for other people.”
“Once the paperwork is filed, I’ll figure out the hiring team, since Aydin wants me to stay with him. That could save me money on bills.”
“You’re thinking of permanently living with him?”
“I was hesitant in the beginning, you know, but the way he’s given me space and opened his home, I’m considering it.”
“You’re in love.”
I smiled and covered my face, feeling like a teenager with her first boyfriend in high school.
“Obviously we’re committed, and he’s changed from the asshole I first met.”
Todd arrived with our drinks and salad.
“Thank you.”
Dani sipped on her drink.
“If you need anything, let me know.”
“I wouldn’t put you out like that. I’m good.”
