“Where’s Amelia?”

“With me, we’re on the way to Dani’s.”

“I’m on my way back.”

I finished the call and gripped the phone in my hand.

“What did Nicco say?”

“Someone shot at Amelia.”

“What’s the chance of that happening, and we get shot at too?”

“Rory’s dead.” I leaned against the wall with my head down.

“How’s Amelia?”

“Shaken up.”

“I’ll get the pilot on the phone.”

After so many years in the business and the people we’d worked for, I had made enough to afford a private plane for times like these when we needed to get to a location fast. Nasir and the rest of the guys packed up the files, and I went into the bedroom to grab my luggage, thankful I didn’t unload everything earlier. We’d hoped to be out here for a few days but never expected to be involved in a shoot-out. A knock sounded on the door, and I zipped the bag and tossed it over my shoulder.

“He’s ready.”

I headed to the door and grabbed my jacket, and we left on the elevator.

Once we got off the plane, we climbed in the car and headed straight to Dani’s apartment without going to the office. I checked in with Nicco, and he was in front of Dani’s home, waiting to take Amelia to the office. I was pissed when he told me she wanted to go to work.

“You need to calm down before we go there,” Nasir suggested.

He’d called ahead and had two trucks waiting for us.

“She’s testing my patience.”

“Amelia just went through something.”

“I know that!” I argued.

The driver arrived, and Nicco stepped out of his car. I started to open my door when Nasir caught my arm.

“Not the time to be yourself. Try to look at it from her perspective.”

“She’s upstairs.” Nicco reached a hand out, and I did the same.

“The camera footage?”

“I sent it to your phone.”

I knocked on her door and pulled my phone out of my pocket.

“Who could that be?” The door knob turned.

I heard Amelia’s voice.

“Where is she?” I barged inside.

“Aydin!” Dani’s eyes rose in shock, I marched in her direction and glared at Amelia.
