Lia and Novah laughed at me, and I flipped them both off. The door opened, and Dominic came inside. Novah mumbled ‘trouble’ under her breath.
“Get out,” I demanded.
“Gladly, but first, let’s get something straight. When it comes to my job it means you listen to what I have to say and follow my orders. You’re not wearing that outfit. I already told Danielle you’re changing or wearing a cover-up,” Dominic informed me.
“What type of swimsuit are you wearing?” Lia questioned.
“A string,” he answered.
“A one piece,” I remarked.
I removed my robe and stood in front of his face, with my hands on my hips. I heard giggling behind me. He smirked, getting a rise out of pushing my buttons.
“Listen, Dominic. I suggest you go secure something or someone that needs your services. I’m fine over here and not changing my mind.” A knock on the trailer door came, and I yelled, “Come inside.” A young assistant, probably no more than twenty, was carrying a tray of food. He smiled at me and tried to move around Dominic, only he refused to move.
“Hey, Lauren, I brought some lunch for you guys,” the assistant said.
“Leave it and go,” Dominic told him.
“Ummmm,” the assistant hesitantly said, looking between the two of us.
“You can stay,” I responded, trying to reach around him.
“If you want to keep your job, you’ll drop the food and leave now,” Dominic spat, turning and glaring at him.
The production assistant dropped the food and ran out, causing Novah and Lia to laugh out loud.
“I like you,” Novah said to Dominic.
“Thanks, if only your friend would listen to me, then I could do my job properly,” Dominic stated, crossing his arms while peering into my eyes and licking his lips.
“You-” I was stuck staring back into his eyes. I was torn on why I couldn’t stop watching the way he gazed at me. A flutter in my stomach was something I wasn’t familiar with. I wanted to continue challenging his authority, but I knew filming was starting soon. Clearing my throat, I removed my eyes and turned, seeing Novah and Lia gawking at us both.
“Novah, can you tell Danielle I’ll be out soon?” I said, heading back to my seat. Dominic narrowed his brow, shaking his head and walking out.
I released a harsh breath and relaxed my shoulders. Novah and Lia both stared at me curiously.
“What are you two looking at me for?”
“The sexual tension between you two. Girl, just sleep with him and get it over with,” Lia replied, fanning herself.
“He’s not my type,” I stated.
“The attractive, tall, hard muscles, perfect plump lips for eating the soul out of your body type of guy. On top of that, a mature man with a job and no kids,” Lia said, running down his traits.
“The arrogant, over the top and wanting to be in control, alpha asshole,” I sassed.
Chapter Seven
Dominic
Emmanuel was ripping on me for going off about what she was wearing. I wouldn’t even let my sister wear something like that on a beach. That damn swimsuit was too little for her thick frame. She knew what she was doing when she decided to put it on, and I wasn’t about to have all these dudes up here, fawning and drooling at her like she was a piece of meat.
“I think you should admit you have a crush on her and get it over with,” Emmanuel stated.
“Everyone check out okay with background checks?” I asked, changing the subject.
“Nice way to tell me to shut up. Everything checked out. The last sample that was sent to the lab was off like the last batch. Danielle wants to meet tomorrow with Elijah to discuss what further steps we need to take,” Emmanuel informed me. He’d been by my side for the Jacinda debacle and brought me back to my sanity whenever I went to that dark place and shut people out. I called him my conscience because when I’m ready to kick someone’s ass, he’s right there pulling me back from the brink. Then, he’ll joke on me afterward for losing my cool.
