“Yeah?” she asks, and he can feel her heart racing under his palm.

“I love you.”

Her eyes look down to his. “I love you, too. We probably gave a good show for whoever’s outside.”

“West or York?”

“Sure, we’ll go with that,” she says and hooks her leg around his hip.

He hardens as she grinds her hips against his manhood, and he can’t help but wonder if she’s spending too much time with Melanie. This woman will wear him out soon. He’s becoming an old man now.

Glass shatters from down the hall, and both snap their heads to look in that direction, all sexual desire disappearing. Gunshots fire right outside the sliding door next to the couch, and Colt climbs on top of Lex, shielding her. If anyone comes inside to harm them, they’ll need to go through him to get to her.

“She’s smarter than your entire fucking club!” a man says with laughter that mixes with coughing.

“He’s dead!” West shouts a few moments later.

Pounding on the front door makes Colt jump up, yank his sweatpants back up over his hips, and answer it.

“There was only one,” York says and steps inside. “What broke? We heard glass shatter, and we ran back around. There was nothing the first two times we circled the house, and we wanted to give you some, uh, privacy.”

Turning around, Colt finds Lex gone. “Baby?” he calls, panic rising in his voice.

“This was thrown through the window,” Lex says as she comes back into the room, still wearing only his t-shirt.

Colt takes the brick and sees the paper tied around it. She flips on the light, and he pulls the paper away to read it.

I knew you could feel me watching you, lass. You were meant to be mine, and I can’t wait to have that sexy little body under mine. Your husband was right saying you suck cock like a porn star. I plan to experience it firsthand soon, and watching him bend you in half gave me all sorts of ideas about where to start when I get you. I’ll be seeing you soon. I promise.

Anger flares through Colt, and Lex stares at it with her eyebrows raised. This has just gone too far.

“The guy you shot wasn’t Scarface, was it?” Lex asks York.

West comes around the front and lets out an exhausted breath. “No, this guy was some young, redheaded bastard.”

“He wasn’t the only one outside,” she says.

Colt snaps his head to look at her. “What?”

“I told you I could feel someone watching us. It’s Scarface I feel watching me, and he watched us fuck in our bedroom and again out here. You and I both know he wouldn’t let someone else sign a note from him. He wrote that, and he got away.”

“We’re leaving,” Colt says and takes her hand, pulling her into the bedroom. “Now.”

“Where are we going?” Lex asks as he stops her at the foot of the bed.

Careful of the glass, he tosses her clothes to put on while he walks into the closet to pack a bag. “Somewhere safer than here.”

His phone rings out from the living room, and she calls, “I’ll get it.”

Colt can’t help but feel like this is the start to some sort of plan, but he can’t get a handle on these assholes. This was strategic, but why? What are they trying to do?

“Yeah, we got one, too,” he hears Lex say. “We’re leaving, but I don’t know where we’re going...”

He walks out of the closet and holds out his hand for the phone. “What’s going on?”

“Got a fucking rock through the window,” Shep shouts.
