“No,” she said. “I don’t think I will.”

“She saw pills and a fake passport in an apartment in Bay Shore. The Judge is sending uniforms over to check it out.”

“If they’re still there. If I were him, I’d have them on me in Atlantic City for the big score.”

“And that’s where you come in. But I’m fucking serious, Ryder. Don’t risk yourself for this piece of shit.”

“I don’t risk myself period,” she said. “No worries. I’ll call you when I have visual.”

She hung up the phone, and Evan sank down on his couch. He should have whacked Bobby when he’d had a chance. He’d hesitated because of Lucy. Ryder had been right: she did make him weak.
