“Hey.” Javier offered me a mug of coffee and took the chair next to me. “Any updates?”
I inhaled deeply, as if the caffeine would hit me quicker through scent. “No, they’re still sleeping.”
“She’s not.” He pointed to the tiny screen of Dias’ bedroom, and I enlarged it. Sure enough, she was awake, staring at him.
It only took a few minutes for him to wake up and she dove right into an interrogation under the guise of getting to know each other.
Javier wrote each detail he revealed of himself while I sipped on liquid gold.
“Any of that true?” I asked as she told him lies.
He read over his notes. “We can double check, but I’m pretty sure it is. There’s nothing here that would help us, though. Basic information anyone could find.”
“Did we know all that about his dad?”
“I’m not sure. We knew he was new to leadership, but I assumed the business went back more generations.”
That was the norm. It was rare for anyone new to break into the crime world, not without the backing of someone else.
“I’ll send the update to Rod for another team to research.”
I nodded and turned up the volume. “He wants to show her something special.”
Dias laughed at her not having clothes and told her he’d take care of it. What was that supposed to mean?
“Where is he taking her?” Javier voiced what I was thinking.
“Marco!” I yelled and found the feeds of his boat and garage. None of his staff was around. They weren’t getting either ready for the boss.
“What?” Marco strode in, sweating in only a pair of shorts.
“Where’s the list of Dias’ assets?” I had one folder open but didn’t see the right file.
He leaned over the desk and took the mouse from me. “Here.”
I scanned over the page and nearly growled. “Where is his helicopter stored?”
“I’m not sure.” He straightened. “I don’t know.”
Javier pinched the bridge of his nose. “Fucking hell.” He stood and went to the doorway. “Derek!”
“I’m off!” he hollered back.
“Get your ass in here!”
Derek must have picked up on the panic in Javier’s voice, since he ran into the room in just his boxers. “What?”
“Do you know where he stores his helicopter?”
He rubbed his eye. “Um, last time I saw it, it was on his yacht.”
“The yacht?” I opened the view from the back of his house. He had a boat docked outside his house, but there was definitely no helicopter.
“Not that one.” Derek pushed me over to reach the mouse and clicked a few times to open a feed I didn’t have pulled up. “This guy.”
Fuck. It was enormous. A mega yacht with a helipad behind the cabin. Sure enough, a white and gray helicopter was waiting, a crew of four rushing around, preparing it.
“Do we have mics?” Javier asked.
