The Huskies were better than what they were showing, and Skylar kept saying it was the nerves and that they’d come out better in the second half.
When the Huskies came out of the tunnel for the second half, Maddy and the rest of the people in the box screamed and jumped up and down.
The beginning of the second half didn’t start off great, though, and the Sundogs landed another touchdown.
Maddy caught sight of Lucca on the sidelines, grabbing his teammates and talking to them. Whatever he said did the trick because, when the offense hit the field, they worked their way down it and nailed a touchdown.
The rest of the game was a nail-biter.
The Sundogs got close to the end zone but didn’t get a touchdown. On the fourth down, they went for a field goal and somehow missed.
No one in the stadium could believe it. The Huskies team cheered, and the Sundogs all booed.
A few plays later, when the Sundogs punted the ball, one of the Husky guys caught it and ran it back.
“Go, Greg!” Skylar yelled at the top of his lungs.
He ran it to the end zone, and everyone in the box went nuts, along with almost half the stadium.
The Sundogs didn’t go anywhere on their next drive, and the Huskies got the ball back.
Ace made his way down the field and tossed the ball to Kirby, who pushed and jumped his way into the end zone.
The Huskies only needed one more touchdown to win.
When the Sundogs got the football, Maddy couldn’t hear herself think with how loud it got. The Sundogs were on the twenty-yard line, and the timer was running down.
As the quarterback looked for someone to throw to, he didn’t see Lucca coming. He knocked the quarterback down, and the ball tumbled out.
Lucca scrambled up, grabbed the football, and took off for the end zone.
The rest of the team blocked for Lucca as he made the winning touchdown.
“We won!” Cody pounded his fists on the table. “The Sundogs don’t have enough time to get another touchdown without a miracle!”
The whole team ran down to the end zone and jumped on Lucca.
The referee got them under control. Everyone lined up again, but Cody was right they could only make two plays before the timer ran down.
Everyone around them went nuts.
“They won!”
“Crusher! Crusher!” Everyone started chanting.
Lucca glanced up and thrust his arm up, waving his helmet.
Maddy collapsed back into her seat, glad she didn’t miss out on seeing her brother’s big win.

CODY
What a game. Cody didn’t think he’d seen a game as good as the Huskies versus the Sundogs.
Plus, it was a bonus seeing Maddy have a good time. They had decided to hang out in the box, taking advantage of the free food while they waited for the crowd to clear out.
Maddy came over to sit on Cody’s lap and kissed him. “We won!”
