I showed him around downstairs and his eyes nearly bugged out of his head when he saw the extensive movie collection we had. “My parents have really stressful jobs so when they have some time off, they like to just curl up on the couch with a bowl of popcorn and watch movies. I’ve seen almost all of these at least a dozen times.”
“There’s a lot here I haven’t seen yet. Some I haven’t even heard of before,” he said, running his fingers gently along the titles.
“Maybe we could watch a few sometime. If you want to,” I said. Images swirled through my brain of me, sitting next to Greg on the couch, the room all dark and a blanket spread over our laps. My cock began to stir as I pictured him leaning over to kiss me, and I licked my lips, practically tasting the butter and salt that would linger on his lips.
“Yeah, I’d like that,” he said, pulling me back from my daydream. When I finally focused on him, I was surprised to see him staring at my mouth. His eyes met mine and his face flushed pink before he looked away.
“So, um. Are you hungry?”
“Oh, he was hungry all right. Just not for food,” Maddie joked. He was leaning forward, his elbows against the desk and his chin in his hands as he listened to my story. “So, what happened next?”
I shrugged my shoulders. “We continued spending every afternoon together and we got closer. We could spend hours talking about anything and absolutely nothing at all. He quickly became my best friend, and before I knew it, I was falling in love with him.”
“And after that?” Maddie whispered.
I opened my mouth to answer but my phone buzzed on the desk before I could. I pressed the button. “Yes?”
“The Mayor is here for your meeting, sir,” a voice said. I glanced down at my watch, surprised to see how much time had passed.
“Thanks, Maria. Send him on back to my office, please,” I said.
I looked over at Maddie who pointed a finger at me as he stood from his seat. “I’ll get out of here so you can have that meeting, but this isn’t over. I want to hear the rest of this story.”
“Sure. We’ll finish it another time,” I promised.
He gave me a gentle smile and then walked out. Waiting for the mayor to show up, I was surprised to feel a soft smile on my face as the memory from before lingered. I’d been so hurt by how things had ended between me and Greg that all I’d been able to focus on was the end result. Somehow, I’d forgotten the innocent beauty of how it all began.
