“What the fuck did you do, man?” I am curious now too.
“What I should’ve done long time ago,” he laughs like this is the best thing that’s happened to him in a long time. “Hunter Montgomery is finally mine.”
“You never mentioned her before,” I point out. We’ve been good friends for long enough where I would’ve expected to be informed of whatever this is.
“I thought I was over her,” he shrugs casually. “Turns out, I wasn’t.”
Chloe and Hunter are walking back toward us, both quiet and deep in thought. Zach puts his arm out and Hunter slides right under it like it’s the most normal thing in the world.
“Well, Chloe, can I take my wife home now?” he asks all snarkily.
My head snaps to him. Hunter is just standing there chewing on her bottom lip, and Chloe’s breath hitches, but she doesn’t say a word.
“We’ll see you two back home,” Zach lifts his chin at me, and then they’re off.
I turn my eyes to Chloe as soon as they are out of sight. “What the fuck was that?”
Chloe’s eyes are huge in her face, and she seems to be at a loss for words, but she manages to surprise me with the words she does spit out.
“They got married last night.”
