At least in my experience—and hell, the women who have experienced it have never complained.
Well, one did… but we don’t talk about her.
“I know. I had to convince you once not to go ring shopping for a girl you’d kissed once,” Rex laughs.
“Shut up. I was drunk and thought I was in love.”
“And now? Is this any different?”
“Honestly? It feels different. I can’t explain it, and I know I sound like an idiot. I’m not saying I want to marry the girl. Hell, I’m not even saying I want anything to happen with her. I don’t even know her, but I definitely want to get to know her. Especially after knocking on her door today and her friend trying to get me to lend Ellie my cock.”
“Elaborate.”
“There’s not much to say. I went over this morning to yell at my neighbor for their late-night music, but it ended up being her. You could tell she was embarrassed, and I did my best to ignore the awkwardness, but her friend was not on the same page. She said that since Ellie lost her vibrator, I should, and I quote, “loan her my cock. Ellie could use a good railing and an orgasm or five.” It was wild. But if she asked, I’d let her ride me like a Harley.”
“Definitely can’t blame you for that. Bonus points for easy access and close proximity,” Rex says with a wink. “But in all seriousness, I think you need to actually go out on one of those dates you keep setting up and canceling. See what happens. Put it all out on the table, and the worst they could say is no. I just don’t want you making this new girl your personality and letting something special pass you by.”
“I get it. I do. Look, I’ll think about it. That’s about all I can promise.”
Because that’s not the worst they could do. They could call me a freak, tell me I’m disgusting, and get pissed off when I call them my dirty little whore, even though it’s a term of endearment to me.
“So, now for the million-dollar question. Why the fuck do you still have her vibrator, and why the hell did you pick it up in the first place?”
I just laugh. Truthfully, I have no idea what the heck prompted me to pick it up and bring it home. As if she’d ever actually want it back. But fuck, I don’t know. It felt weird leaving it.
“Fuck if I know. It was in the elevator. I felt like I couldn’t exactly just leave it there.”
“So, instead, you picked up the vibrator that you know was inside this woman’s body, and just what? Pocketed it?”
“Yeah, I mean, I cleaned it, then took a shower.”
“Bold, man. Really fucking bold.”
We both laugh because, honestly, he’s not wrong. It’s fucking weird that I did it. I still don’t exactly know why I did it but fuck it. If we had hooked up in the elevator, I wouldn’t have thought twice about touching her. Why should that be any different? It’s done and over with, and if I ever see her again, I guess I could actually return it.
“Let’s go get food,” Rex says, interrupting my thoughts.
“Lead the way.”
By the time we make it back with our food, we have fifteen minutes until kick-off, and I’m ready to sit back with a beer and relax. Walking through the lobby, I can’t help but smile when I see a little girl running over to her mom, the happiest smile on her face like she’s the happiest little girl in the world. She practically leaps into her mom’s arms with an excited squeal.
But then the mom stands up, and I’m shocked.
It’s Ellie.
Ellie is a mom?
“Who’s that?” Rex says from next to me, his eyes following mine to watch Ellie and the little girl embrace.
“That’s her. That’s Ellie, and who I can only assume is her daughter,” I say, my eyes never leaving her.
The little girl holds onto Ellie’s neck while she holds her, chatting away in her ear, and the brightness on Ellie’s face is one of pure joy. Pure love.
Stop going there, Trevor. Maybe fatherhood just isn’t in the cards for you.
The joy only lasts a moment as the man standing off to the side finally walks up, his scrunched-up sneer immediately pissing me off.
“Are you done with your little charade? Are you finally ready to come home, where you belong? Do you know what would happen if it got out that you were living here? You’re lucky your father is letting you live here. I’m sure I could change his mind if I wanted to.”
