Page 52 of Chains

Ten minutes later, Chains emerges naked from the bathroom freshly showered, and I’m still in the same position I was when he went inside—towelling his head dry, I can’t help my eyes from travelling down his gorgeous form. His dick is still hard, and my core tingles, imagining him inside me.

“I’ll make it up to you when I get back,” he says, a small grin turning up his lips.

“You better.” I mutter against Mr Boots soft fur, as I watch him dress.

A gray long-sleeved T-shirt, black jeans that show off his muscular thighs and lie low on his hips and his cut, complete the look.

He saunters over to me, bending down to give me a kiss on the lips, leaving them tingling and me wanting more.

“Lexie, Everleigh, and Sage will all be here, stay with them, and don’t leave without a prospect.” He warns again, with a raised eyebrow.

“Fine, I heard you the first time.” I grumble.

“Good, now be a good girl for me and keep the bed warm until I get back. I shouldn’t be too long. Hopefully, just a few hours. At the most, we’ll return tomorrow night.” With another quick peck on the lips, he was gone.

I wanted so much to tell him I loved him, but chickened out. I just hope I get the chance again when he returns. Sliding beneath the covers, I hold Mr Boots close, who’s already sleeping and purring loudly, but I remain wide awake until the early rays of the sun bathe the room in warm light.

I was hoping the events of last night, not the actual sex but what happened after, was all a dream, but the empty side of Chains bed tells me it wasn’t.

Despondent, I decide to get up, choosing a V-neck green ruffle trim wrap dress, hoping it picks up my mood because it does wonders for my figure. I keep my face makeup-free, showcasing the noticeable freckles that adorn it.as I go about my morning routine of brushing my teeth, cleansing and moisturising my face, trying to distract myself from the fact that Chains has gone God only knows where.

Styling my hair away from my face, I smile when I notice how much it had grown in such a short time. Sliding my feet into a pair of green wedge espadrille sandals, and with a pep in my step for the first time since I’d woken up, I leave Chains' room, with Mr Boots in my arms, and go in search of familiar faces. Hopefully Lexie is here, at least.

The clubhouse is abnormally quiet, which leaves me wondering how many of the members have left for Dallas? Hearing muffled voices, I follow until I’m in the kitchen where I thankfully find Lexie, Sage, and Everleigh. It’s almost a relief to realize that they are here, and I can’t help the huge smile from overtaking my face.

“Well, good morning, sleeping beauty.” Lexie speaks first, and I walk farther into the room. “Would you like a coffee?”

“I would love one. Thanks.” I reply, placing the kitten on the floor before heading to the fridge to get his breakfast. I watch as he eagerly gobbles it up, then I settle onto a stool at the massive stainless-steel island. The kitchen exudes a professional air with its all-stainless-steel appliances.

Glancing around, I notice that the girl who arrived last night at Spider’s patching-in party isn’t among the group of women.

“What a night that was last night, huh? Where’s the girl that arrived last night? Chains said her name was Ella? What’s going on?” I shoot quick-fire questions as I sip the tasty goodness once Lexie sets the cup in front of me.

A look I can’t decipher passes over the three women’s faces, igniting my anger

“What’s with the looks? Do you three know where Chains and the rest of the guys have gone? The looks on your faces tell me you all know more than I do.”

Everleigh sighs, explaining,

“Ella’s back at Sage’s place with the kids. She wanted to come and meet you, but she was too tired from her trip. And she thought it best to stay away from my son Lukas, or Spider, as you know him as, and his girlfriend Candy. My son and Ella had a thing before she left.” My eyes go wide, and Everleigh quickly explains. “Nothing happened, of course, but there was an attraction, and I’m sure if he wasn’t with Candy, there would have been more. With everything that happened last night, she thought it best to keep her distance,”

“As for where the guys are and what they’re doing, we know about as much as you do, Zoe. All I know is Kick took a call from Kon in Dallas, and he got all the guys together and they left. Even Lukas has gone with them. He didn’t want any drama with Ella being here.”

I bite down on my bottom lip. I’m such a bitch. I attack them for keeping things from me, my worry over Chains wellbeing leading my anger, when Everleigh especially has Kick and now Spider to worry about.

I lower my face from her searching eyes, feeling ashamed at my outburst.

“I’m so sorry for speaking to you like that. I’m just worried about Chains, he refused to tell me anything, and I took it out on you when you didn’t deserve it. Especially considering you have two of your guys gone.”

Everleigh smiles indulgently, pushing a stray lock of dark ebony hair from her face. “You have a right to be worried too, especially if you like Chains.”

“Oh, I more than like the asshole.” I admit without thinking, then gasp and slap a hand against my mouth. All three women have identical smiles on their faces as they look at me.

“Well, it’s obvious you both have the hots for each other. It was sexy how he watched over you all night last night and held you in his lap.” Lexie replies, getting a faraway look in her eyes before the oven dinged and she opened the door, removing the scrumptious looking cinnamon buns inside.

“You baked those?” I ask.

“I did. I couldn’t sleep, so I’ve been up for hours.” Lexie says.
